Mad Dog and Glory [DVD]

Interesting dark movie
The story is about how the love of a good woman can change your life. DeNiro plays Wayne "Mad Dog" Dobie, a timid neurotic forensic photographer who lives alone. Murray plays Frank "Money Store" Milo, a mobster and loan shark. When Dobie saves Milo's life, Milo gives him Glory (played by Uma Thurman), a woman in debt to him, as a reward.Murray does a very good job of playing an unstable and neurotic man who can't connect to people - a job usually given to DeNiro.

Great Movie and cast!
This was as good as I expected it to be!! The cast is bar none three really fine actors and the plot was so well thought out! That this was almost a "can't miss" film! Let's face it if you like DiNero and like Uma Thurman you are half way home with quality of acting and the icing on the cake is how great Bill Murray was in a semi-dramatic role that you are surprised to see him tackle and happy that he did!! Not a Great film but certainly entertaining and the acting makes a predictable plot worthy!!!!

Check it out
I think this movie is a forgotten classic. The roles switched by DeNiro and Murray makes the movie what it is.

JUST WHAT I EXPECTED
Interesting story with very good actors. I liked it even though it was unusual at times.

Worth a Watch
This is a movie I just have to watch every once in a while. It's a light comedy (with a few dark edges) and the performances by all the leading actors (and actress) are well done. I don't think that the name Robert De Niro is necessarily associated with the adjectives "sweet" and "endearing", but he really is, in this movie.

Classic movie night in, grab the popcorn.
Good movie, one of the classics. Especially if you love Robert Dinero and Bill Murray movies. Good fight scenes too.

One of my all-time favorite movie
This is one of my favorite movies. Wonderful Louis Prima soundtrack sequence. Bill Murray and Robert De Niro are case "against type" and are perfection itself and very funny.

De Nero & Murry role reversal.
One of my favourite films, not because it's very good but because something about it touched me, and explaining that is difficult in a review.Certainly not many reviews here for a film that features Uma Thurman, Robert De Nero and Bill Murray. The 'mad dog' of the title is De Nero's nickname for the character he plays ---- a shy, timid detective who his colleagues mock with the nickname. Murray is the tough mobster who becomes indebted to De Nero, and who presents Uma Thurman, a waitress, as a 'gift' to the detective for one week.Reluctantly at first but fully later De Nero bonds with his 'gift' and is more than happy to reveal another side to his character and of course refuses to give her up at the end of the week. The plot is a tragedy really but director John McNaughton plays the film for laughs and all three main actors have a wonderful chemistry on screen as I saw it.A really good supporting role for David Caruso of CSI fame adds to the blend. This is not ever going to get a big audience but it is quietly brilliant to see the two big stars play in roles that were not designed for them----- they were hugely entertaining.

Endlessly quotable...
I decided a long overdue re watch was in order. I absolutely adore this film, and won't have a word said against it. Endlessly quotable, brilliant performances from Murray and DeNiro in particular, and just so damn original compared to the cookie cutter material that is turned out so much. It's over twenty years old now too, and still holds up fantastically well.'Hey Chivas & milk, I never forget a neck'
