Padre Pio was born in 1887 and named Francesco Forgione to a very poor family. In spite of many health problems, he was ordained a priest at the age of 22. One day in 1818 as he was praying before a crucifix he received the stigmata. Word of this spread and many interested people, especially WWII soldiers, flocked to see Padre Pio. He became known as a miracle worker and was reportedly able to bilocate, heal with a touch, and read the consciences of those who went to him for confession. In 1956 he founded The Home for the Relief of Suffering, a hospital that now serves 60,000 people a year. He died in 1968.This medal is made of sterling silver and will come with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, so it's ready to give as a present to someone else or yourself.Size: 5/8 inchMaterial: Sterling silver.
