Great addition to a great Drawing Board
OK, so it costs a little more but - gosh..! What a difference in quality. There is no mistaking this for a cheap and very nasty Far Eastern rip-off..! Built to last by our Germanic Cousins and so good to use.

Rotring Drawing Board
Excellent product from this long established German company. Also recommend the purchase of the Rotring Junior Head, with adjustable angles. The plastic is of a high quality and the A3 board is very stable, with its two support feet and anti-slip fittings. The parallel action works smoothly and can be clamped very firmly for accurate drawing. The Junior Head and the set square fit tightly into the parallel motion ruler. Paper is clipped to the board with a magnetic movement which works extremely well. The whole fits perfectly on the desk top.Highly recommended even for older designers like me.....who never got to use autocad. There is a separate scale for use with compasses....like my 30 year old Rotring ones!

good value compared to larger and more professional board/drawing head combinations.
This drawing head fits to the Rotring A3 drawing board: combined they take up an amount of real estate, meaning you can only work with an A4 drawing unless you want to work above and below the parallel motion. You can get larger boards with draughting heads, but they cost several hundred pounds upwards. This puts the cost of this draughting (drawing) head in perspective, although it doesn't seem to be a lot for the money. Nevertheless, it works well, moving smoothly left to right or vice versa, along the parallel motion, with 15 deg. click stops or variable angles by pinching in the plastic knob in the centre. This does offer better control and ease of use over a couple set sqaures, so it can earn its keep and the A3 board/drawing head combination is inexpensive compared larger alternatives, but professional it is not imho. However, for students and small scale technical drawing, this set up is convenient and permits a high level of accuracy, so it is far from useless: compared to larger board/drawing head set-up's, this is a compromise that offers value if you don't need more or better, so overall it is a good-ish product and well worth considering.

Works great with the rapid board.
Nice handy drawing head which gives consistent results. The headlocks in place on the board ruler and the angle is fully adjustable with preset points such as 30,45 and 60 degrees.

The clip does not work terribly well and the unit just pops off the bar ...
It has a clip which keeps it locked to the horizontal rule bar of the drawing board. The clip does not work terribly well and the unit just pops off the bar when I try to lock it in place. I have to wonder if it's any different to the cheaper, non professional drawing head offered by Rotring. However it is usable and the central boss locks automatically at often used angles and can be manually locked at any angle. A reasonable product. Not entirely poop.

Does it’s job
No complaints at all with the quality, fit and finish.Locks positively at the most common angles with no free play, nothing less than what you would expect from this brand even from their budget model

Super accessory
I bought the cheaper version a few weeks ago and decided I would have been happier with the pro model. The cheaper version is very good, this one is that bit better and fits well on the A3 drawingboard I got if for. Highly recommended
