Murray & Lanman Florida Water Plastic Bottle 7.5 oz

I really dislike most "modern" colognes and aftershaves. Their fragrance is too strong, they never fade away and they usually smell disgusting after wearing for several hours. I stopped using these types of fragrances upon reaching adulthood and realizing how silly I smelled and how it impressed no one. In fact, I stopped using anything for years. But eventually, I became curious after reading a bit on aromatherapy and being exposed to various fragrances that didn't smell like recycled chemical sludge. So I experimented and found what fits my criteria for acceptability. What I discovered was that I like citrus, herbs and woody. I don't like heavy colognes that stay strong throughout the day--I want the fragrance to fade into the background. An aftershave is preferable since the scent is usually lighter than cologne and slowly fades to the point only someone intimately close will be able to detect it. Plus, aftershave just plain feels good on my face after scraping off a day's growth. Florida Water has become one of my favorite aftershaves. It's light, citrusy and slightly herbal. It's not feminine nor masculine, it's gender neutral. You won't smell like an old lady's rose bush or like an adolescent drenched in yak sweat when you're using Florida Water. It smells clean and fresh and well balanced. It reminds me of 4711, another classic gender neutral cologne I like, however, 4711 has a sharper, snappier overtone to the citrus and herbals. Of the two, I like Florida Water better. And 4711 is now pretty expensive compared to the relatively frugal Florida Water. Being as I'm ignorant of many things--some would say almost everything--I had never heard of Florida Water until I saw it for sale online. Interesting history there. Anyway, I've grown to love the stuff. Splash it on after shaving or after a shower and it's refreshing and doesn't knock you down with its presence.

I’m really into this Florida Water. It has a fresh, citrusy scent that’s uplifting. I use it as a refreshing spritz; it feels calming and energizing at the same time. A simple, classic favorite. I love to use it before my Tarot readings.

For starters, I live and play in Florida and just for kicks, I bought this as a novelty item. Much to my surprise, I became quite fond of the scent and invigorating freshness of the cologne. It has a sweet orange citrus base with hints of lavender and clove. The name refers to the fabled Fountain of Youth which was said to be located in Florida as well as the "flowery" nature of the scent. After all, Florida means "Feast of Flowers." So, the name of the cologne is certainly fitting. Large quantities of Florida Water were used by barbershops as cologne and aftershave. In the 1880s and 1890s Murray & Lanman Florida Water was advertised as "The Richest of all Perfumes" and "The most Popular Perfume in the World" Like other colognes of the era, Florida Water was valued for its refreshing and tonic nature as well as its scent, and could be used as a skin toner or as what we would now call a "body splash". This is my number one use of Florida Water- as a body splash; particularly during the hot summer months in Florida. My second means of using this product is by mixing it with iced water and dipping a clean rag in and wiping the neck and body for a refreshing cooling effect. It's not just aftershave. It's also a refreshing body splash with that sweet citrus, yet manly smell.

I regularly buy Florida Water for use in my religious practices. Although originally intended as a universal cologne, this has also been used in many spiritual and religious paths. I use it to cleanse an area of all negativity before performing a ritual, I also keep a bowl of this on my alter with some camphor to instill a sense of consecration for when I pray and do spellwork. It can be used in place of holy water for Shamanic and Pagan rituals. I rub it on my hands and I apply it to my face when Im feeling anxious and it relaxes my tension away. I also frequently use it in a spray bottle to spray around my room to create a relaxing environment. Even if you dont use it for religious reasons, it makes a great cologne or perfume because it smells wonderful! You can be either a man or a woman, and it will still smell great on you. Its also great to use as you would febreeze spray for example. I spray it under my bed sheets after washing them, I also use it as an aftershave after shaving. It is high in alcohol content and so it can be used as a topical agent as well. For me, there are so many uses for this, I always keep a bottle in my room and I always keep a little spray bottle filled with it in my car. Whether you use it for spiritual practice, or just because it smells good, you will love this Florida Water!

I never even heard of Florida Water or its use until I recently became very interested in chakra crystal stones. So throughout my learning regarding this product, it is said that it’s great to use on rubbing down the candles before lighting it up on your alter, house cleansing by adding it to mop water, and also pouring some to an empty spray bottle to rid out any negative energy that is in your home. I did try it all and I love it! I especially love the smell! I’m like so addicted to Florida water now. Overall, it’s a great product with unique long lasting scent and great prices! Don't be fooled by the smell. I first smelled from the bottle and was like no way am I putting this on (think 30 yr old aftershave). It sat around for weeks. One day I tried it and it smells AMAZING on the skin! Totally different experience. Very earthy smell think sweet patchouli and sandalwood. Smells like yummy incense and is warming on the skin. My new favorite, I can't believe how skeptical I was to try it. It just melts into the skin and layers well. I will sometimes layer it under a cheap body splash or mix in with a body cream. But it is beautiful alone.

This is one of the oldest colognes you can buy dating all the way back to 1808. I had to try it also because this was reportedly Lucille Ball's favorite fragrance and I figured if they've been making it for over 200 years they must be doing something right. The scent is very pleasant that I would describe as very spicy with a background of citrus and herbs but I think the primary fragrance is cloves. I can actually wear this without it irritating my sinuses or giving me a headache which is why I usually avoid most fragrances. The scent is very light and not overpowering and it does dissipate pretty quickly which may be a deal breaker for some but personally I don't mind it when scents fade I actually prefer it. Also this product can be used not only as a cologne but also as an aftershave, a toner, in bath water, in diffusers, and even as an addition scent for laundry! I quite like it!

I love this stuff so much, it has an amazing scent, spicy citrus with a hint of clove. I’m not a fan of clove as a scent but this is not like bay rum, this is a mild hint of clove. It’s very high in alcohol so if like me you’re applying to your skin it can be very dehydrating, I recommend following it with a good moisturiser. Makes for a good aftershave, super refreshing and I find it gives me a real mental lift.
