This is THE BOOK to buy for your Gibson, Epiphone or Chinese Imported style guitar!!!
This is some amazing and awesome book that I recently brought initially for curiousity reading which turned out to be my new bible of all tech books! The book is completely loaded and packed with all sorts of information about Gibson guitars, its electronics, the components and of course wiring in all different type scenerios. It clearly explains what the function of each electrical part does in the guitar and gives clear cut examples of them such as using photographs, drawings, lay out models, diagrams, etc. For someone like me who is brand new to guitars and wiring, the book was easy to understand and easy to find specific topics as everything had been catagorized in different chapters. The Q&A section in the back of the book is also very helpful with common questions about guitar electronics and how they work. You can even download a pdf version of the book (upon purchasing) which is in color making all the wiring diagrams, photos, examples, etc..much better and clearer to view and follow. The author, Tim Swike, was extremely helpful and quick with answering all my questions via emails and even provided me with a new wiring diagram for my new Ace Frehley Les Paul guitar (imported copy). He is very knowledgeable with all sorts of guitar wiring diagrams and really knows what he is talking about. For someone like myself who is new to this, I am very glad that I discovered his book at the time when I brought my axe. I already knew that most of the wiring and electronics were probably junk inside and I was planning on installing real genuine USA made parts instead. I was originally going to hire a guitar tech to do the wiring job and installation of the new humbuckers for me, but after reading this book, I won't have to do this anymore! I saved at least $150 for doing it myself by using common work tools, a soldering iron, a new guitar wiring kit I brought online and a few free days over the weekend.I highly recommend this book to anyone who owns or is thinking of buying a Gibson, Epiphone or even one of those Chinese clone guitars because this book covers them all. Its really good to know how your axe ticks inside and how you can fix or trouble shoot problems yourself without having to spend extra $$ having someone else do it!

Awesome book!
Anything Gibson, from the oldest vintage to the newest models and any other brands, similiar type guitars, and Gibson clones, this book will show you how to wire them all in any style you want, hell if you wanna wire your ESP LP, exactly like a 50s model Gibby, or vice versa, this book shows ya. Buy this book and the Fender book from the same author, and you’re set for any and all upgrades or repairs you can think of

Very Good!
I was unsure as to what wiring scheme I wanted to use on my LP build, after reading this book it cleared up a lot of questions and I was able to pick a wiring scheme that fit the style and sound I wanted. Easy to understand diagrams and info! Book lacking colored photos was it's only downfall!JV

The book would be much more useful if . . .
Okay, while I still don't much care for the printed version of this book upon further review, I finally found the e-version which was included. That has everything I need. So, while I like the e-version, I still find the printed version to be less than satisfactory. I won't be returning it, but people should be aware that the printed version isn't nearly as useful as it could be.When a book refers to color diagrams, it should actually have color diagrams, not black and white. This book is practically worthless as is because every page refers to "the color diagram below", etc. but all pictures are poorly reproduced in black and white. They aren't even scaled properly. When reduced for print, some photos are stretched and flattened. So, I'll give the e-version 4 stars, the print version 2 stars. Average of 3.

If you need to know anything about wiring a guitar, you need this book.
After being an electronics technician for 35+ years, I thought I knew how to wire a pickup. I actually do, but there are so many options that affect tone and “hot rodding” your sound, there’s no way I could remember them all. Well illustrated, and understandable, even for me. Highly recommended.

Worst waste of money ever
Worst waste of money ever. The wiring diagrams are in black and white but don't identify what the colors of wires are supposed to be. In other words, the diagrams are useless as all the wires look the same - how they got this published in the first place is beyond me. There is also no explanation of what the different wiring is supposed to do to the tone. Really? What do they expect you to do - just randomly pick a diagram and rewire your LP and hope for the best?
