Extremely Well Made
I have invested in several of the new filtration products in the LifeStraw Peak series, and so far I've found them all truly impressive. They've managed to pack a ton of utility into a small space, build with incredibly durable materials, and achieve a faster flow rate that seems on par (or better) than the other top brands like Sawyer and Katadyn.I'll share a few observations about this gravity filtration system in particular.** CAPACITY **I've noticed a few other reviewers are calling this a must-have for backpackers. Please be sure to notice that this bag is a whopping 8L capacity! If you're taking this backpacking, I sure hope you're traveling with a big group and planning to share. In most cases, I think the straw filter and/or the pouch filter are better options for backpacking.LifeStraw Personal Straw:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09SBPP9R9/LifeStraw Pouch:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09SBN5QMM/Or, if you really prefer a gravity filter, this 3L model is a solid choice too:https://www.amazon.com/LifeStraw-Compact-Gravity-Filter-Mountain/dp/B09SBPPFW2/To me, the best use case for this 8L gravity filter is when you're setting up basecamp for a group of 3-6 people. You probably don't want to haul 8L of water very far, and you'll probably want to share that water with a group. So setting up a basecamp near to a water source is probably the best way to go.** DURABILITY **LifeStraw did a great job selecting the material for this bag! It feels incredibly durable, which is important if this is your only (or your primary) source for fresh water. Even the straps feel tough, like seatbelt material. I feel really confident this will hold up to extended use. It's also important to me that the filter can be replaced separately. Filters do wear out over time, and they can be damaged if left out in the cold while wet. Thankfully, LifeStraw does provide a standalone replacement filter:https://www.amazon.com/LifeStraw-LSPSMEMR1-Peak-Series/dp/B09SRM4N6V/** EASE OF USE **This category is a somewhat mixed bag for me. In practice, this is quite simple to use. You remove the large circular cap to fill the bag with dirty water. Then you replace the big, circular cap and remove the plug cap and replace it with the actual filter & hose. Immediately gravity will start pulling the water through the filter and down through the hose. There's a little clip on the hose so you can stop or start the flow of water. However, I say it's a mixed bag because the printed instructions were not super clear to me. They provide a single huge sheet of paper, densely filled with text, and folded several times into a little booklet. For me, as someone who's new to using a gravity filter, it was kind of complex to read through. The pouch can be hung in a few different configurations, and it's hard to understand through just the written description.I highly recommend you head to YouTube and look up "LifeStraw Peak gravity filter" to find the video tours that LifeStraw has provided there. They do a much better job of showing you all the ways you can set up and use the filter.** EFFICACY **LifeStraw provides plenty of documentation about their 3rd party review process that ensures their filters remove bacteria, parasites, and micro plastics. That gives me confidence that the filter is definitely doing a good job, even now that it's working at a faster flow rate.Overall, this is a high quality option for gravity filtration for a small group of people. Now that I know how to use it, I'm excited to enjoy many years of clean water on my camping trips!

This could save a life, maybe your own.
I won't go into too much detail because we all know what life straw is and does. It's a simple water filter that allows you to drink directly out of various things. Well, this is an 8 liter version of that and I got to say it's pretty fantastic to have something like this. The bag itself is fairly durable and I think it will hold up well as long as you take care of it. The filter does what you need it to do and you're able to flush it out, which will help prolong the life of it and also keep filtration from taking excessively long.In all likelihood this will replace one of my six liter bags on long hikes. That will help me cut weight down by a lot, for which I am grateful. If you're someone who likes to get out and about in the backcountry or wilderness, this should be a no-brainer. It's not a cheap product, in any sense of that word, but I think that overall it's an excellent value.

Great product!
LifeStraw has been doing this for a while so we figured this would be a solid filter to have for camping trips. We were right!Build quality is quite good. We love the large size since it means fewer trips to fill it. We haven't used it with any truly dirty water, and I do worry a bit that the filter could require frequent backwashing if there's much of the way of sediment.Overall, a nice filter bag and we're happy with it.

Do not purchase
This bag makes good water taste terrible. I tried the baking soda/hot water method to remove the taste. Did not work. I washed it, I dried it. Nothing helped. Also, the rubber hose used to fill your bottles does not stay attached. Buy a better purifier.

A must for backpackers
My husband and I take several trips a year to the mountains to hike and backpack. On one of our recent trips, we ran into a group that had one of these set up. It was immediately intriguing, and bought a cheap set up for ourselves upon our return. It lasted 1 trip before the seam ripped and it was unusable.I ordered this one, and it seems to be of much better quality and will hold up through all of our upcoming trips. This makes backpacking so much easier, to know you will have clean water no matter where you go, and not have to lug a bunch of water around with you. I highly recommend this in every camper’s kit. And don’t waste time and money getting some off-brand version; just do it right the first time. We are very pleased with this one!
