It tilts some like a rocker. It does not recliner like a recliner. The amount of tilt is small, regulated by a lever. The chair always stays L-shaped.

They look metal but are indeed plastic.

What is the measurement in inches between the rear of the custom (where the back touches the bottom) to the front of the cushion.

I'm interested in getting this, Is their chair hard or very soft when you sit on it?

At first the seat cushion was great , but it quickly lost its shape and became very uncomfortable for me ...I had to find a seat cushion that seems to work pretty good for me now. I have this same problem with other chairs to be fair.
