Rockler Mini Deluxe Panel Clamps (2-Pack) Four-Way Pressure Clamp Set

I’ve got a number of glue-ups I need to do. So I know these are a luxury, but I justify them by making most of the furniture in our home. At first I ordered the cheap, no-name brand off of Amazon. To say they were bad is an understatement. I’ve included images of the nut from the cheaper clamp that is barely holding one of the ends together. And there were a couple of stripped threads because the threaded rod that goes through the clasp mechanism isn’t long enough to get the nut on all the way. I decided to order the #Rockler panel clamps thinking they wouldn’t be much better or easier to use. I was so incredibly wrong. These things are definitely built to a different standard. All of the metal pieces are thicker and more robust, which really translates when you clamp some wood in them. The Rockler clamps allow you to exert a lot more force on the joint. Plus the clasp mechanism is twice the size and much easier to work with. Even the handle you use to tighten everything up is knurled and feels more robust. Sometimes you can cheap out or make do. This isn’t one of them.

Great for glueing up small to mid-size cutting boards. Bought a second set. They do take some practice to use, but once you get the process down, it's not bad.

These clamps work very well to hold your wood evenly. They can be a little clumsy to use. I started placing a thicker piece of wood in the clamp to hold it open while I inserted the pieces I'm gluing, then removing it before tightening. Overall, they do the job they are designed to do.

I had put off buying a set of these for years. I always felt that they were too expensive, and I figured that I could do it another way. Man was I misinformed. I had a few projects that required me to construct hood panels (1 desk w/2 file cabinets, 1 chest of drawers, and 2 end tables, and maybe a night side table for myself while I was at it). Needless to say, that's a lot of wood panels. I did not look forward to making all of those panels the long way I recently came into a little extra cash, and I had been eyeballing a set of panel clamps. I usually just grab a few planed 2x4's and about 20 f-clamps and clamp my panels together. It's not perfect, but it works (sort of). Doing it this way requires a lot of plaining, sanding, and finish work. Lots of it. After breaking down and buying a set (3) Rockler Panel Clamps, I constructed the first 4 panels, and they all came out as near to perfect as I have ever experienced. They still needed some sanding, but absolutely no plaining required. Just some (verry reasonable) sanding and scraping to remove glue squeeze-out. After everything, I now kick myself for not getting them sooner. Note: Learning to efficiently use any tool takes time and experience. Take time to practice on some cheap wood. Use some Pine or scraps. Don't be tempted to grab that perfect plank of Oak, Walnut or Purple Heart wood. You will be disappointed. I can almost guarantee it. You'll make mistakes. Learn from them and do better next time. Cabinet Making is considered an "Art" for a reason. It requires much time and lots of experience (practice), and yes, the occasional failure. If you need to make panels for furniture and you can afford to invest in current and future projects, get a set of these. I got three. (OUCH) You won't be disappointed (see note above). These are awesome -- super easy to use, solid as a rock, and they work great! Although I am also a huge fan of Woodpecker's products, and I have a set of their ClampZILLA panel clamps in a smaller size than these Rockler panel clamps, but I wish I would have bought the smaller Rockler version, too, instead of the ClampZILLA's.

Not easy to work with. Very frustrating. I do have a system down now where it’s much easier to use them, but can still get frustrating. I ended up using strips of wood covered in clear packaging tape and I clamp them across my glued boards to keep them even. So much easier than the panel clamps. They are a good idea but I think Rockler needs to redesign them, maybe with a designated bottom that is longer than the top so the screw handle does not get caught.

I had quite a bit of frustration when first trying these. Happy that I did several practice setups before attempting with glue. They don’t hold wood slats as even for length I had hoped. I used 2 clamps for a 24” long charcuterie board and the ends were not even. Taking a lot of sanding. It was also my first attempt so could be some operator error. Blogs stated 2 clamps would be fine for this length but I am going to use more in the future. I will use one on each end, very close to edge. Then use 1-2 in middle for anything 24” or longer.

I found these on sale and thought I would give them a try. They're a little tricky to figure out the best way to use them as you're trying to glue a panel together, but once you figure it out, its a breeze and it makes the panel stay almost perfectly flat so there is very little sanding needed to level things out. They're heavy duty and have showed no signs of bending or warping. Clamp mechanism is strong. I like that it came with a hanging bracket for them to get them off the bench when not in use. I've had very little trouble with the piece being glued sticking to the clamp due to the anti stick coating on them. I will be picking up a 2nd set of them.

Solid quality on this product! One of the unexpected features I really like about these clamps is that the coating they used on the clamping bars resists binding with wood glue! Super easy to break the board free and easy to clean. I'm eyeing up the larger clamps now but need to save a few sheckles.

Excellent Rockler clamps, too bad the large version not available for shipping! Set up nicely for stable glue up.
