More than just a rice cooker—a total game-changer for healthy cooking!
I purchased the Bear 6 Multifunctional Rice Cooker last month, and it has honestly been a revelation. For health reasons, I’ve had to take serious control of my salt, sugar, and cholesterol intake. I knew I needed to switch from white rice to brown, and after some research, I decided to give the Bear a try. At under £40, it is incredible value. My previous, cheaper rice cooker was a disaster—half the rice would stick to the bottom and come out clumpy. The Bear has raised the bar entirely. Cooking rice is now effortless, though a quick tip for new users: watch your water levels! My first try with 4 cups was a bit too much (it sat at the porridge level), but using 3 cups and ensuring I didn't go past the marked rice level resulted in much better, fluffier rice. But the real game-changer is how this "intelligent" machine handles one-pot meals. It seems to sense the weight and ingredients to automatically set the perfect cooking time. Whether it’s chicken and brown rice with aromatics like ginger, garlic, and turmeric, or my latest experiment—a tomato, chickpea, and beef stew—the results are incredible. As someone who is disabled, standing or sitting at the stove for long periods isn't easy for me, and this cooker has been brilliant for that. It allows me to prepare healthy, delicious, "clean" meals from scratch with minimal physical effort. I set the stew to cook, and after the machine did its work, the beef literally melted in my mouth. While my photos show how great it looks, they really don't do justice to the incredible texture and tenderness of the meat and chicken. The beauty of this cooker is that you can just put everything in, close the lid, and go do something else. When you come back, you are blown away. It has far outshone my expectations; it’s not just a rice cooker, it’s a high-performance soup maker that beats anything I’ve eaten from a tin or even at many restaurants. If you are looking for a way to cook healthy, delicious meals with minimal effort, this is it. It’s fantastic—highly recommended!

I love it!
This little rice cooker is amazing. Rice comes out perfect every time. I have made a couple of complete meals with it - so rice topped with veg, fish and seasoning. Everything came out just right and tasted absolutely delicious. Some previous reviews mentioned that the clips break easily when needing to clean the rice cooker and so I am trying to be extra careful with that and cannot comment on longevity of use however - it does feel of good quality.. only time will tell. For the price I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a great affordable rice cooker that also looks lovely.

Amazing, easy to use!
Brilliant rice cooker with perfect rice every time. Only downside is there’s no timer throughout and different amounts of rice cook for different lengths of time. You will get a 5 minute timer at the end when it’s nearly done. Easy to clean, small and compact for storage. Definitely recommend.

Small but mighty - value for money
For the most part, this is a great steamer - straightforward to use and very effective. Instructions are mostly clear and settings work well - I happily made rice and even bone broth using the soup setting! I would caution the porridge setting though; the recommended liquid:oats ratio is off and can lead to overflow. If that happens, you pretty much have to get a new unit because you can't completely take it apart to clean. The instructions are helpful but do use your own judgement too and check advice online if your not sure. Generally speaking, this unit is very easy to clean though and, providing nothing has spilled into the main heating chamber, most can be gotten to to clean. Compact enough to comfortably fit in the cupboard, with cute details e.g. bear heads on the steamer basket holes. Rice is perfectly cooked - using broth or adding a spoon of miso/stock helps improve flavour further. Would recommend and buy again. Amazing value for money.

Our first rice cooker
This is the first rice cooker we've ever owned. We've only had it a day but so far very impressed! 🟢 Preset modes for easy use 🟢 Instruction booklet with guidelines for cooking different things 🟢 Versatile with options for rice, soup, porridge, and steaming things like vegetables. So many uses! 🟢 Useful accessories including steam tray, spoon and measuring cup 🟢 Good small size for smaller kitchens 🟢 Portable with a handle, handy for camping/etc 🟢 Easy to clean 🟢 Looks cute. Everything has a little bear on it, even the holes in the steam tray 🐻 🟢 Good price 🟢 Perfect size for a small family 🟢 I've made rice pudding in here using a recipe online and it came out beautifully. 🟢 Really handy being able to just set it and leave it until it's done. 🟢 Once done, it automatically switches into keep warm mode. 🟡 Timer beeping is quiet. Didn't hear it from the next room. Thankfully it automatically went immediately into keep warm mode, so was still warm when we checked it.

Absolute gem of a rice cooker
I was using a saucepan and the 2:1 ratio (2 parts water, 1 part rice) but the cooking was always iffy, trying not to burn the rice or the pan, sometimes the rice came out too watery, or nicely cooked but the pan was difficult to clean afterwards. Call me lazy yeah. So I decided to invest on a rice cooker, I didn't want anything that could feed an army regiment, just a small rice cooker. So based on the fact that most reviews on Amazon are being pay offs, I was very sceptical on choosing my first rice cooker. I was between this and another German one, finally chose this because of the lower price compared to the German model. And I'm glad I did cause there nothing not to love about the Bear! Rice? Perfection! Simply the best rice I ever made without stressing myself, or being on top of it while it cooks. The steaming basket? The huge bonus for me (which has actually opened new horizons in my diet). The basket is enough for a couple of regular persons or one with a huge appetite like myself :D So cooking rice while steaming anything on the basket is a huge benefit for me, as it basically means that you hit two birds with one stone (I don't want to sound vulgar to our little fluffy feathered flying friends - this statement excludes pigeons of course, which are annoying beggars). Two different foods in one cooking: less washing up! Happy times! Ease of use? 3 step function! Fill it up with contents - Choose what kind of rice (or soup, porridge etc) you want to make and press start. Let it heat and cook under an extractor, go do your thing and come back after a while with an empty plate to fill and eat (actually avoid eating the plate, they are very crunchy let me tell ya). So far i haven't been adventurous in making soups etc so I cannot comment on these, however the rice (long grain. basmati and brown) and steamed vegetables, prawns, frankfurters that I usually put on are out of this world. One thing to note is that the Bear (being a bear) is quite slow. Especially when cooking brown rice, which took about 50 minutes in my case. White rice generally takes about 30 minutes or so. The amazing thing about the bear is that it won't overcook or burn your food, once it is ready the device stops cooking and keeps it warm till you press the start/stop button on the lid. Which actually is a gem if you are a gamer, or if you watch a move and have forgotten about the food (which I do like 9 in 10 times). If you are thinking which rice cooker to buy, the bear is a gorgeous choice. It will feed 2 hungry individuals well with rice and steamed whatever, it cleans very easily and won't break the bank. Plus it not one of those wild bears that will destroy your house looking for the honeypot. It is nice and compact and can be stored easily till next time use. Amazing cooker, very happy with it! As the Brits say: "does what it says on the tin" (and is really good at it)

Love This Rice Maker - Definitely Recommend - I Love It
I have wanted a rice cooker for forever and because I mess rice up every time we don’t eat very much rice and especially that we are switching all white food to wholemeal I thought if I can’t cook white rice I will only really mess up brown rice, so a rice cooker it was.😊 I searched for ages comparing products and prices and settled with this Bear 6 and I have not been disappointed! What a dream finally eating well cooked tasty rice. I made basmati using the white rice setting it came out perfect. Since then, I have made brown rice several times and not been let down at all. The rice is always cooked evenly and fluffs with a fork with ease. This is a neat looking rice cooker, quite compact as I found a space to store in the cupboard. The instructions are simple, easy to understand (although there is very little instructions needed to use this cooker). It comes with a measuring cup for rice, wide plastic spoon/spatula and the markings in the pot are super clear making it easy to then add the water to the line / depending on rice amount measured. What I have found though is that it takes quite some time to warm up & cook the rice, so I now get the rice in the cooker ahead of making the rest of the dinner. The rice has never stuck to the non-stick pot, and it is really easy to clean. When the rice is cooked it beeps and then turns automatically to Keep Warm – usually by this time I am ready to dish up but if I’m not it’s not a problem bc my rice is still kept warm. We are a family of 3 and this size is more than big enough for us (I have only ever used 2 cups and there is always plenty leftover) but it does cook for more than 2 cups. Also includes steamer basket – this is really small though and I haven’t yet used it and can also be used for porridge, soup etc. Highly recommend - so pleased I settled with this Bear 6 - I Love it..

A great rice cooker but not without its flaws.
This is my second Bear rice cooker as I returned the first one due to flaw with clip on inside of metal lid. Others have also reported the same issue with hinge clip breaking and I experienced the same problem. However I was very impressed with the quality overall of the machine that I decided to take a chance and return the Bear rice cooker and order a new one. When the second one arrived I experienced again difficulty in removing metal lid due to clip being put under to much stress to lift lid off. Slowly but surely I removed lid and decided that the lip on the hinge needed filing back a bit to allow clip to press into place without any pressure to the clip. Hallelujah! This is now so much easier to remove and replace lid, an easy fix. Again others have noted how poor the instructions are and I would agree. Bear need to take note and include an instructional video showing clearly how to use the machine fully. The machine will do enough rice for 1- 4 people comfortably and the rice cooker is a nice size not taking to much space on your counter top or cupboard. When measuring rice make sure you clean this by running it under the tap until the water is clear, this will lead to fluffier rice by removing the starch. I am glad I gambled by replacing the rice cooker with a new one as the rice is coming out perfect and fluffy. Bear need to resolve the plastic clip problem as I can see that others will have similar problems going forward. Overall this is a modern looking machine and cooks rice very well.

Compact, efficient, quality rice cooker, easy to use and clean.
I love this little rice cooker! It makes perfect rice and quinoa! It is simple to use and easy to clean. My only “complaint” is if you plug it in it automatically turns on to “warm”, so if you’re puttering around not paying attention to making rice it sits heating up. Small flaw, but I am learning and I would recommend it to the people who want a stylish effective rice cooker for the casual rice consumption family. (I’ve been told if rice is a staple to your every day, there are other “tip of the line” cookers for “rice snobs”) This one is great!

Worth It
Great for cooking rice—very convenient and highly recommended. The rice comes out fluffy and evenly cooked every time. It’s easy to use, heats up quickly, and the compact size is perfect for small families or limited counter space. The cute design is an added bonus. I’m very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to others.
