Great product
This sensor is very impressive! Our requirement was to interface our existing mobile app with temperature monitoring hardware. After a lot of research, we found TempoDisc In our case these features make BlueMaestro TempoDisc stand out: * Low energy Bluetooth: BT was definitely in our requirements, and there are other sensors out there that have a BT interface. TempoDisc was different in the fact that its Low Energy Bluetooth interface allows for a unique combination of size, battery life and functionality. * Logging: The ability to not only save historic temperature records but also to configure the frequency of the recording allows us the flexibility to configure the sensor for all of our use cases * Replaceable battery: You don't need to throw away and waste your hardware when the battery runs out. Battery replacement is simple cost efficient. * Resistance to condensation: We need to use these sensors inside a fridge, TempoDisc internal boards have a special coating that protects them from condensation. * They have a well documented and 'open' API: Out of the available hardware that we found, this was the only sensor that had any online API documentation and an example SDK. It only took a few hours to interface it directly to our mobile app (for most people this may not be that important a requirement as TempoDisc comes with it's own mobile app) * Low cost and Quality -> Very competitive price for the offered functionality and appear to be good quality.

Easy to use / Accurate / Reliable
My husband is using this device to monitor the humidity levels in the case where he keeps his favorite guitar. This device is straightforward and high quality. It helps him to know exactly the right time when he needs to add water to the humidifier so that the humidity does not drop below a certain level which helps to prevent the guitar from drying out and cracking. Since the value of the guitar is over $3000 it’s easy to justify the investment in buying this device. The app is very user friendly. I am not tech savvy and still found every aspect about this product simple yet cutting edge. The people who invented this definitely know what they are doing. Keep up the good work.

Poor quality
Poor quality. Got a second one in 10/24 and just like the 1st, it failed (8/25). Worked fine and one day it's telling me it's -35. Even resetting it didn't correct the defect.

Acoustic Instrument Humidity Monitor
The Short: I have one of these data loggers to monitor the humidity in each of my guitar cases and they work well. It is easy to read the humidity in all cases at once with app, they have long battery life, they are small and can be tossed into the storage compartment, and seem to be accurate when compared with my reference hygrometer. That is all I really need to say. The Long: I use the BlueMaestro Tempo Disc™ Bluetooth Temperature, Humidity and Dew Point Sensor Beacon and Data Logger wireless devices to monitor the humidity inside my guitar cases. All of my instruments have humidity control packs inside the case and as long as I keep the humidity packs in shape I have not had to worry about the humidity inside the case. However, I have kept a digital hygrometer in one case just as a reference along with a hygrometer in the room. The case digital hygrometer broke and while looking to replace it I ran across these Tempo Discs data logger that had temperature, humidity, and dew point. I purchased one about a year ago and tossed it into the storage compartment and it has just been working away without any effort from me. Two nice features I really enjoyed about the device is that I do not have to open the case to get the humidity reading and it has a trend so I can see the high and low humidity readings and note that if the humidity is trending downward it may soon be time to refresh the humidity pack. The system of one hygrometer and multiple cases worked well for a long time. However, I don’t play as often as I used to and would occasionally find that I let my humidity packs go dry. Also, my guitars now reside in multiple places and I loan a few of them out. I have purchased additional devices and now have one Blue Tempo in each case in the storage compartment and I can check the humidity of all the guitars in the same building (specs say 220 feet) with a quick view on my smart phone. Also, if I loan one out I can instruct the person to use the app to keep an eye on the humidity. My latest devices came nicely packed wrapped in plastic, placed in a nice tin, placed in a velvet like pouch, all within in a cardboard pouch. A big and welcome change since my first one over a year ago. In addition, the tin is a nice size to store picks and the pouch for other small things such as capos, thumb picks, batteries. If you don’t have a storage compartment, toss the device in the velvet bag and keep inside the case. The devices are plastic and should not ding any wood, but having them in the velvet case adds another layer of protection. The devices are about the size of four quarters (USA) and claims to run one year on a CR2032 battery. I have not had my devices long enough to get a good idea of battery life, but it is nice the app shows the battery life of the device. They devices are small and do not have GPS so don’t misplace them. With the app, you can at least tell if you are within 200 feet - if you left the device on. The devices are ready to go, just pull the tab on the device that protects the battery from being in contact and turn it on. There is a push button on/off that is nice if you are not going to use the device for a while. Download the app for your smartphone, bring up the app, and like magic, they all appear. There is no setup needed. So far, no calibration has been needed, they all pretty much match my reference hygrometer (with 0.5%). The logging interval is user defined from 1 minute to 18 hours and I have found a recording period of 15 minutes works well and provides a nice trend. I also named each device the guitar make/model so I know which device is in which guitar. Note the name and any calibration is stored on your smart phone or tablet - not internal to the device. For my loaners, the person only has one guitar so a device name is not important. Please note that you do need to read the data with the Blue Tempo app, these are not push devices and they do not send to your smart phone. Blue Maestro does offer a internet gateway that connects with your internet router via WiFi and Blue Maestro sensors using Bluetooth and forwards sensor data over the internet to the Blue Maestro Cloud where it can be accessed anywhere. I have not tried this type of access and for my occasional monitoring remote access is not a problem for me since I am generally in the same building. The application is available for both for both IOS and Android. The app does great job of picking up the signal and displaying realtime information. You can view all of your devices at once along with the current readings and status such as battery level, log count and logging interval and there is no limit to how many devices you can monitor at once. With a few clicks, you can get the history from any device, up to 6000 points, and display charts of temperature, humidity, dew point, and pressure (device dependent). With the graphs you can choose the period to show at the push of a button and quickly scan through the graph's timeline. Each metric measured by the device is graphed both separately and on a combined graph including temperature, humidity, and dew point for comparison purposes. The data also includes high, low, and average readings. You can also export a ‘ csv' file of the log data to a email address or to the cloud. The only time I did this was to compare devices stored in the guitar case storage compartment, in the case itself, and a reference data outside the case. Just for information, I found very little difference if the device in the storage compartment or just in the case. I don’t measure the inside of the guitar since that is where my humidity packs live. The app also lets you set the device name and humidity and temperature calibrations. Again, do note that these are stored with your smartphone or tablet. Be sure to get the latest version of Blue Tempo 2 for your mobil device. You might also try to get the Blue Tempo Utility since it has additional features. Customer service has been really great. There was a reading issue with my first one and they immediately replaced it. They seem to update the app on a regular basis and the app gets better with each generation. Any email correspondence has been quickly addressed and they are open to suggestions and recommendations. Blue Maestro offers a wide range of sensing and logging solutions. Look them up on the internet and see what is available. They offer cloud monitoring solutions and are open source and can provide SDKs and APIs to design your own mobile apps or integrate the devices into third party systems. Pros Easy to connect to device, no setup required. Easy to adjust data collection interval Quick to read multiple devices at the same time Small and lightweight Quick to respond to temperature and humidity changes. Have on/off button and airplane mode Great customer service Wishes Save name and calibration on the device and not on your smart phone or tablet. You can select temperature units (C or F) but it would be nice to have the ability to select barometric units if the device monitors pressure. Sometime on the tablet the trend does not take up the full display in landscape mode. This issue seems to go away when you get a few thousand data points. Built in GPS - well, not really but it might be handy when you misplace a device. So now all I need is more guitars...

Update to my earlier review: I've now had the sensor for over a year and recently had to replace the battery. The screws are so small that my smallest Phillips screwdriver didn't quite fit. In the process of trying I stripped the heads and ended up damaging the disc's back cover. I contacted Blue Maestro's customer support and Kirstin sent me new screws and a new back, all free of charge! I now have the correct size screwdriver (Phillips #00) and managed to change the battery no problem with the supplied new back and screws. Great service! Original review: I wanted a temperature gauge which could log the temperature to my smartphone for when I'm camping or hiking. I got my Tempo Disc a couple of months ago now and it's a great little gadget. It's really quite small and weighs next to nothing. I've calibrated it against a couple of other thermometers and it seems to be quite accurate. To get a correct reading the temperature sensor can't be kept on the person. This means the sensor has to be robust and weather resistant enough to be hung from a backpack, as shown, or live in one of the side pockets. The Tempo disc appears to meet all the requirements. Especially with the little gel case shown in the photos, which is sold separately on the company BlueMaestro's own site. (It's a shame they don't sell it as a bundle option on Amazon.) On the company's site they also have a key hanger version of the sensor but that includes a pressure sensor and since my phone already has one of those I did not need that. The staff at BlueMaestro were very helpful and friendly when I ordered the little gel case. I've now had the sensor with me on quite a number of outings and it works really well. The readings appear on the app on the phone with no problem and the app also gives you a high and low for the last 24 hours which is nice. You have to make sure it is out of direct sunlight so I mostly have it one of the mesh side pockets of the pack. This ensures plenty of air flow and accurate readings. So far it has withstood a couple of very wet days without any issues. It isn't sold as waterproof but it seems to be able to withstand very humid conditions, 85.1% according to its own reading, without any problem. The temperature logs can be downloaded from the sensor into a spreadsheet and so I now have accurate temperature charts to go with the other data from our hikes and treks. Combined with photos, maps, and notes they make for a very useful record of what things were like. Lastly, the way it is all packaged deserves a mention. The sensor itself is very well protected in a metal case. There's a full paper manual and download instructions for the app. I also love the fact that they give away Haribo sweets with it.

This is a neat little device only let down by the instructions it arrives with. I imagine a lot of people would be fazed by the lack of even a bit of paper. and only a website address. It's about the diameter of a 50p piece and comes in a small metal box. The reference to bluemaestro.com is on the bottom of the box. The 'Tempo Utility' app is available on both Andoid and iOS app stores and functionally they're similar, but the graphing on the iOS app is better. The x-axis shows date and time on the iOS app, but only data points on the Android app . As an Android user this is something that needs to be corrected ASAP. Using the app you can setup the device to log data at any interval from once a minute to once every 12 hours. Independently of the logging interval you can also adjust the sampling interval, i.e. it can sample and broadcast the data every minute, but it might only store a data point once an hour. The disc broadcasts the temperature and humidity in it's bluetooth 'advertising' signal so the current data can be picked up immediately using the app at anytime. The bluetooth range is much the same as any bluetooth device and in my case doesn't travel too far through the house. The disc stores all its logged data and this can be downloaded into the app to get a table of values or a graph. It's then easy to email a CSV file of the data. I had thought that the disc needed to be in 'pairing' mode to download the data, but it turns out that it's possible to download the data at anytime without touching the disc. This is clearly a powerful little device that could be used in many ways. Once understood it's very good and I've bought another to monitor another part of the house.

I would just like to say that the customer service with blue maestro is phenomenally good. I ordered this device, and I had a few problems getting it to work. I called their support line, and within a few minutes had Kirstin, the co-leader/product designer assisting me. We figured out that it was a battery connectivity issue (one of the pins was loose, and required help to make the battery sit correctly). However, in addition to helping fix the issue, she proactively shipped me a brand new one in case the fix didn’t work. If I could give 10 stars I would, and it’s really nice to have a quality sensor, not a cheap made in china one.

Bought the Tempo blue disc a few weeks ago. I pleasantly surprised when it arrived, it so small and neat and so simple to use. Although the instructions enclosed could be more explanatory, I had no problem downloading the companion app to my iPhone and switching on the disc. This is done by simply pressing the coloured front of the disc once. Connecting the disc to the app is so simple, it just happened. No fiddling with Bluetooth connections, as long as Bluetooth is on the app finds the disc on launch. The app displays all the relevant information from the disc very well. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to rename the disc and to alter the log frequency as well as download the first log, but that’s all part of familiarising yourself with new tech. I liked the Tempo disc so much, I bought a second one, along with a silicon case and key ring attachment, available direct from Blue Maestro. The product is great and is made in Britain, even better.

I've had my 2 Temp Discs 2 months, and 1 month - and they're both recording without problems. They're tiny little things (the size of a 50p piece), and very light as well - they didn't come with any fixing frame but being so light I was able to use some wood glue I had to hold them in place on the two walls where they currently stay. Each Tempo Disc comes in a small metal container, and is activated by clicking the blue top cover. They're NOT waterproof but they can be used outside, as long as they are protected from any rain, or icing frost. Once activated I was able to use the Android application (screenshots below) to set the Tempo's recording interval, name, transmission power level, and current date. Be warned! Set the date BEFORE you want to start taking readings, if you don't then the Tempo will make readings with a "Reading number" and not a date. After a couple of days I set the date and was a little surprised to see the data my phone had already stored had been cleared away. It's a little "gotchya", but one easily avoided when you now about it. This device has MANY configurable settings - much more than the other leading temperature sensors on Amazon. To see them all, please look at Photo F. They have a little LED indicator that can be triggered by the phone app to ensure the sensor you're setting in the application is the one you're looking at. If the signal power is low when you're trying to sync the data with your phone, the app is helpful, and will tell you that - so you can move a bit closer to the sensor. The temperature and humidity sensor are accurate - both Tempo Discs I have read very similar when next to each other, as well as to a different model I already had in place. I regularly download the data from my phone to my PC to enable me to log it with an Excel spreadsheet I use. "Tempo Disc Myths" I'm including this bit after reading some VERY misleading information made by other reviewers, which were not accurate. >>"The x-axis shows date and time on the iOS app, but only data points on the Android app . As an Android user this is something that needs to be corrected ASAP." This feature is now in the Android version - please see Photo D, on the right hand column. >>" it doesn't seem to come with any instructions so it took a little time to get used to how it works" While true, there ARE instructions online. I don't think we can post website addresses, but it's on the item page. >>" Even when there is a change of the reading, it does not update the app" If this was an application issue, and not one of the phones - it has been corrected in the Android software. When you open the app - all the Tempo Discs in range are available to view their current readings - you do NOT need to sync the stored data to se e the current temperature and humidity values. I've bought a second Temp Disc because I've found the first so useful in having configurable sensor readings and logging readings. The device is also very competitively priced compared to other systems on the market. They're still going strong after 2 months, and so far I've had no problems.
