Bearing balls seem ok but very disappointed in the case. Case was broken and all the bearings were mixed together

What can one say of a round steel ball? I'm not a metallurgist so I would not know how to test for hardness. I can say that the count is right and they arrived on time.

These are great for art projects and fishing lure rattles also - Great Selection of bearings
These are nice chrome steel bearings in the 8 sizes listed. I got the exact amount they said (yes I actually counted them) and saw no scratches or blemishes on any of them. They are packed with each size in a plastic bag (typical cheap stretchy plastic bags you can't open easily) that my scissors opened. I put them in separate containers. The supplied box is a typical cheap plastic box with10 compartments separated by removable dividers. In order to get the balls all in the box, you have to mix sizes of the bearings in some of the bays so I just moved them all to the plastic containers. I took the picture before I had them all stored so you can see the construction of the box as well.I make fishing lures for fun and wanted to make some that rattle. I make them for inshore and for off shore saltwater fishing so I wanted a variety of sizes. I have some lead shot pellets I tried, but they don't make much of the clicking noise I wanted. These do and they add a little weight. They aren't stainless, but I seal the tubing so it won't matter.This set also is something I've wanted to try for a couple of mixed media art projects, a magnetic sculpture, and a hard sculpture, but those will have to wait for when I have more time. I like using things outside of their specified purpose to see what I can come up with. This will help keep me busy on rainy days.Having so many bearings in so many different sizes is a really good deal. If you fix bikes and need some loose bearings, these are good quality, but don't be afraid to think outside the box as well.
