We bought these for children in our school to build, and for use in our local community. We found them to be good quality with clear instructions. Having a screwdriver each enabled us to all build at the same time. We were proud of our handiwork! We liked the useful information about placement locations and when to clean them out.

This was so fun to do. Super super easy to construct. The Quality is incredible, far far better than shop bought ready made bird boxes. highly reccomended

I have problems with my hands but still had fun assembling the box took my time it took less than one hour and the materials were good even came with a screwdriver so looking forward to the nesting season to begin all good 😊👍

Good value

The media could not be loaded. Included is everything needed to build the bird box , wooden sections, screws , sandpaper and a screwdriver . Putting it together was easy although the panels did not fully align so had to be manipulated a bit . I was totally unaware that the inner needed to be rough for the young birds to get out , an excellent bit of information , so I roughed it up well with the provided sandpaper. It is a good size and the front section can be raised for cleaning. I will now coat it with wildlife friendly water based preservative and put a piece of roofing felt on the lid ready for use next year . The only question is the price hence 4 stars .

Quality product easy to assemble

Whether this set represents good value or not depends a lot on whether you think “build it yourself” adds to or reduces the value. If you just want a ready-made bird box, then for a similar price to the twenty-four quid current asking price of this item, you can get a slightly more advanced pre-built one with an extra coated surface or other features. But if the DIY self-assembly sounds like part of the fun, it’s a slightly different story.It’s not an advanced build, equivalent (from what I remember, and it’s a distant memory) to a Design Technology or woodwork lesson from the early years of secondary school- or an Ikea flat pack build. It’s a simple box shape and there’s none of the joy of complex dovetail joints and the like, just a bunch of flat wood panels with screw holes and the relevant screws. As such, it doesn’t feel especially educational unless it really is a child’s first experience of assembling stuff. If you’ve already roped them into helping to build Swedish flat pack furniture in the past, building this will seem like a chore rather than a learning curve.The instructions are reasonably clear, though you are likely to be able to work it out for yourself given how pieces there are. There’s an addendum sticker on the side of the box to clarify that there are two different lengths of screw, so you need to make sure the right screw is going in the right hole- but that’s the only real challenge as such.The assembled box is sturdy enough. It’s a little plain, but the wood on the one we got was in good condition, no splinters, chips, marks or the like. The result hangs nicely and hopefully, over time, some of the local bird life might adopt it- there’s certainly plenty of them around.The quality of the box itself is better than the Photoshopping quality of some of the product images, which do it a disservice. I wouldn’t overstate how much ‘fun’ there is in the self-assembly process, but if it sounds like a little bit of basic DIY would add to the experience and you want a bird box anyway, then it is a small plus point.
