So You Want a Seat at the Table: A Practical Guide to Being a True HR Business Partner Review: I think this is an excellent tool for developing one's HR and leadership competencies - The author uses a narrative of the "Big Guys" retail store to provide a replicable approach to becoming a strategic HR leader, and partner, who is aligned and contributing to the organization's success. She covers a number of functions within HR such as talent acquisition, compensation, managing performance, succession planning, and learning and development and then demonstrates how all can affect the bottom line. She adds valuable tips on developing the relationships necessary to achieving departmental and the organizational goals. I think this is an excellent tool for developing one's HR and leadership competencies. Review: A good example guiding us - Jeanne share with us a good and practical example and guide us to construct a Human Resources strategy. The style is appropriate to engage with the story and practical tools are part of the deliverables.

Highly recommended read!
Jeanne has written an excellent book! It's incredibly easy and a fun read, but she has woven the "Harvard Big Picture Principles" into a format that all of us everyday folk can understand, appreciate, and most importantly, apply! I would highly recommend it for all business leaders that need a strategic HR partner, as well as all HR professionals! Her conclusion is dead-on, impact both the company culture and the bottom line, and you earn a seat at the table!
