Easy to install and highly effective.
I'm very pleased with how easy it was to install and its robustness, quality, and efficiency. The noise level from this fan is neglegable given its CFM flowrate. I measured power usage @120VAC as 0.81 Amps and 95 Watts. I needed for dust and paint-fume evacuation in my basement. I often spray paint small projects there and have been using a simple box fan in a window to keep fumes from wafting into the upstairs living areas, but it wasn't as effective as I would have liked. After installing this new unit, the amount of airflow is so high that even with another basement window open for airflow, the negative pressure generated by this exhaust fan is still sufficient to pull air from the upstais living areas, resulting in absolutely no odor from paint spraying, or any other activity in the basement entering the upstairs living areas. Problem solved. I could also see how this fan would be effective for cooling.

Works great
Works great. Keeps my shop cooler in the hot summer months. Not too loud . Runs 24/7 most days. Had it for two summers and still works great. Look good from the outside with the metal flaps are closed.

I read a lot of reviews and am glad I selected this fan
I was really worried about choosing the right attic fan for our home because once they are installed, they are difficult to service and / or replace. Some of the views about noise and about the thermostat burning out prematurely concerned me, but I decided to take the plunge and buy this. Installation Installation was easy for my contractor. No issues there. An electrician hooked it up. Noise The fan is running right now in the attic above me and I can hear a very very distant hum if I really concentrate on it. This is a 1972 house with original (thin) insulation so I am surprised I can not hear it more. There is no vibration and outside it looks fine. The louvers also open and close well. Thermostat The thermostat with the remote control is the best part of this fan. I did buy an extended warranty on this piece (bought separately) because I was concerned about premature failure from reading other reviews. The thermostat lets you choose what temperature it goes on and off at, and tells you the current temperature of the attic which I like looking at. The attic did go up to 125 the other day when it was 101 outside, but on most days it keeps it around 110. My house used to make lots of noise as the hot wood contracted in the attic as it cooled... now it's quiet and no longer does that. Air conditioning also working much better. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and can highly recommend it. If I run into any durability issues I will update this review. Hope this helps!

Decent fan for the money.
I received this fan today to use as an exhaust fan in my 2 car garage. Packing was nice with plenty of styrofoam for protection. Mine looked new with no defects noticed upon primary inspection, and contained the fan and temperature/speed control,as ordered. The first thing I noticed was that the power cord was not wired into the fan motor. No big deal because simple wiring instructions are included and I'm experienced in wiring as well, but the ad did not mention "wiring required". There were a couple of small items missing though. The bulkhead fitting for the electrcial junction box was missing, even though the instructions stated that the hardware included aforementioned bulkhead fitting. I happen to have 1 that would fit or I would've had to make a hardware store run. There were also a couple of tiny rubber plugs missing from some holes in the body of the motor. The holes are probably from manufacturing the body of the motor, and there was 1 plug in place but 3 were missing. I filled the holes with a little bit of silicone and continued on. The rest of the initial inspection and test-run was pretty well standard. The fan and controller worked as advertised, although I did not try to set the temp control portion. Turning the temp control knob all the way counter-clockwise bypasses the temp control feature,by the way. There is a power on/off switch next to the speed control knob. The speed control worked well and the fan responded accordingly. One note--if you have the speed control on the minimum speed and turn the power off,the next time it is turned on,the fan will run at full speed for a second or two before the speed controller backs it down to low. Apparently this is normal as mine did it several times when I would turn the power off and back on,so I figured it was just how it works. The slats worked well with no binding and the fan itself seems relatively quiet for a 16" fan. All-in-all,a decent fan for the money and yes,I would buy it again.

Outstanding Exhaust Fan, Well Worth Purchase Price
Outstanding exhaust fan. We purchased this exhaust fan to use in our over-sized double car garage attic; item was packaged adequately for shipping, arrived with all parts, very easy install, moves hot air out of garage attic as expected. Well worth the purchase price.

Impressed
I was very careful about buying an exhaust fan - Measurements were dead on: I put it in my attic and let me tell you it moves the air - it's exactly what they say. I made sure the installation was solid and caulked. I made a nice wood frame inside the window frame and it just fit in perfect. No bugs got in which our attic had some. I didn't want a cheap fan - I wanted something that is solid. My attic is about 800sqft. When the fan is on made it very comfortable to continue to work. I was working on electric and insulation projects so I put that in first.

Excellent fan๐
I had a window in my attic that opened and shut by a string dangling through the downstairs ceiling. I removed the window and used a piece of 1/2" plywood, measured to exact size of window. Then using a jigsaw cut out the circle and mounted the fan. I installed a simple thermostat with adjustable temperature, Air Vent 58033 for $20.86. Easy to install. I placed it 15' from fan, a foot below roof. Locate the black wire(hot wire) that goes from the source of power to the fan, and route it to the thermostat, then to the fan. The thermostat has a white and a black wire. When you route the black, hot wire to thermostat attach it to black wire, then take white wire and attach it to black wire in the fan. Very simple. The hotwire to fan is interrupted by the thermostat which acts like an on, off switch to any appliance. Setting at 90 degrees works pretty well. If I am working in attic I set it at 70 to keep moving the air. Obviously to move air through the fan. You need an inlet for the air to be drawn through the attic. A ridge vent works, another window or an additional roof vent. The fan is pretty quiet, not silent. I am very happy with it. Last comment the board you install fan in should be painted before installing fan. My Lakehouse is white and with two coats of exterior paint it looks nice. I used the hinges from the window so with the fan in board it still operates as a window and can be lifted, in the event that you want to jump out, or just occasionally lift the fan/window and scream blasphemies and profanities out the window at unsuspecting passersby. The fan gets 5 stars

likely one of my best buys ever
bought this for a 30 by 28 sheep barn to keep the humidity down. It works extremely well. It is fairly quiet and the variable speed is perfect. i had it installed by an electrician while rewiring so cant say it was hard or easy .
