I bought this foam backer to use with caulking around my kitchen wood floor, and it worked better than expected. The material is sturdy yet flexible, making it simple to install without tearing or crumbling. It held its shape, created a clean base, and significantly reduced the amount of caulk I needed to use. Should have bought this from the start. I kept buying small amounts from Floor and Decor. Works well, very easy to use and flexible. The size is also perfect for small gaps. Definitely recommend it.

This stuff works great for filling in cracks and crevaces. I wouldn't use it for anything very deep or else you'll need multiple layers. Same goes for anything large than half an inch roughly. Not big enough. The only gripe I have is the ease at which it flattens out. I used it to dampen the sound of a door closing which isn't it's intended use... It worked well but it's basically a pancake now and lost it's effectiveness. For filling in cracks though it works very well. I also used it around windows to form a better seal for winter where the window meets the pane.. in that sense. I'm happy it flattened out a bit. But for the price and amount of material it's a great but with a variety of uses.

Good item

I had no issues using this product. The only problem was not with the caulk saver, but with trying to use a single sized rope for gaps that were all different sizes. I opted for the 3/8" caulk saver because it was was neither too slim nor too thick. For some gaps that were a lot smaller than 3/8", I had to cut the rope in half using a mat knife. For gaps much larger than 3/8", I twisted the rope into basically a 2-ply ribbon, and used that for a pretty acceptable result. So, consider carefully the size that you need for the most part and do what I did, or pre-measure every gap and buy multiple sizes of caulk saver. Or, you could skip this entire step and end up using way too much caulk. Your choice.

Used this to put around the outside perimeter of a vinyl plank floor in the basement to keep the planks from moving. Worked great.
