Ive tried several brands and these are the best for the money. Some have had a rancid smell but these dont. Granted they smell like bugs but fresh. Also no small pieces like some brands. Chickens love them and they need this extra protein on cold days.

My chickens and ducks *LOVE* BSFL. These come really quick, so when I space a refill, I know I won't be waiting too long for my next shipment to come. I can't understand why anyone would buy BSFL from a feed store for 8x the price when you can get these for a much more reasonable price. I think they smell like peanut butter. I don't think there is much in the way of larvae dust in the bag from them being crushed. Comes double boxed from Amazon usually. Can't attest to the taste, I'm not much for larvae but my dogs love these as well and clean up any leftovers they find, so they must be tasty. Good, hearty sized larvae. A good boost of protein for my birds.

For treats, I buy 10lbs bags of dried black soldier fly larvae for my chickens and ducks. I have purchased several brands, all fine quality but one thing they could not do is offer friendly customer packaging. The product comes in a gusseted plastic bag, with a zip style closure. They don't waste time with fancy out colored packaging, it comes in a plain box. The interior plastic bag is substantial and as I mentioned, zip slide close. Easy, breezy treats. I am pleased with the quality, the price, and the speed of shipping. I have tried many companies and this one is the current winner :)

I actually don't feed my chickens extra calcium but their eggshells are still hard. I attribute it to this product. We feed our eleven chickens a large scoop every morning. And if we need them to go into the run early, we just sprinkle them inside and they all come running. It does have a slight odor when the lid to the container is open, but it's not horrible. The larvae looks like they were healthy, a nice golden color, and have been processed well. One ten pound box lasts us a bit over a month. I've bought other brands but this is my favorite because I feel like I get my money's worth and the chickens really love them.
