Costa Rica Coffee, Tarrazu Original, Whole Bean, Medium Roast, Fair Trade, Kosher, Fresh Roasted, 16-ounce

I'm pretty new to craft coffee, making my own grinds, etc. I've been doing it for a few years now. But I've only recently started really experimenting to find my ideal brew. I suffer from acid reflux, so that is of particular concern. It has been quite the learning experience, experimenting with various roasts, brands, origins, and bean types. And I'm happy to say, I believe I've finally found my match.I was zeroing in on Tarrazu Costa Rica beans anyway, just because the aroma is amazing, and the bitterness was so minimal. I tried both dark and medium. Medium definitely hits the spot for me, personally. I tried a few brands of this bean. But this particular brand and roast... it's just amazing. There are no words. It's the least bitter coffee I've ever tasted. It's as smooth as velvet (even black, it's downright creamy feeling.) There are other coffees that aren't bitter per se, but they all have some faint sting or brightness to them, however faint. But this is just utterly, completely devoid of bitterness.And not only does it not trigger my acid... I swear it actually helps it. I was having reflux from another type of bean, made some of this, and it literally settled my stomach. Immediately. No, I can't explain it. I'm an odd duck, as I've said in other reviews. Darker roasts trigger my acid more than lighter roasts, which is the opposite of the norm for most people. But whatever the reason, this particular bean consistently settles my stomach. I've had two bags of it so far, and it never fails. Not even my Nexium is as effective as this, as insane as that sounds lol. (Any biochemists and/or gastroenterologists out there care to take a crack at what could be causing this effect by the way? I'm sincerely curious.) One cup and my acid ceases, without delay. And ONLY this brand of Tarrazu, no other have this effect on me.This is, needless to say, just one person's anecdotal experience. Do not try to use this as a remedy if you suffer from reflux disease. I'm just relaying my own (quite odd) experience.This is the smoothest coffee I've ever had. The caffeine feels strong but not overly so. I think I've found my perfect cup of coffee. (French pressed for 4 minutes.)ETA: Sep 8 2018. Still my favorite coffee! :)

Tasty coffee. A little on the darker side of medium roast but still smooth and easier on the stomach (I get sick if I drink dark roast). I'd have to rate this coffee as #2 in flavor, not quite supplanting my favorite Guatemalan that I usually drink.

We tried Volcanica's dark roast Terazzu whole beans and found it too dark, with a bitter aftertaste. This medium roast Terrazu coffee is good, but too mild for our taste. We've ended up blending the two, with about two parts medium roast to one part dark roast, and it's pretty good. I wish Volcanica would roast their beans until oil droplets just appeared on the beans so they were lightly dark without the bitter aftertaste.

I like that this is not bitter and has a wonderful smell and taste. Love it

The bag I received is labeled Dark Roast on the bag, but has a white label affixed that says Medium Roast. It's a very dark roast, almost charcoal. Not bad tasting if you like dark roast, but not what I was looking for.

I enjoy a strong cup of coffee and I found that the Costa Rica medium blend provided an excellent cup of coffee. Of course if you’re grinding the coffee beans you can adjust the grind and quantity to your liking. I enjoyed this coffee but find it a little pricey.

The taste is amazing! Best I have ever drank!!!
