Well made. I set the cooking heat at medium then to a lower setting. Heats tortillas just the way I like it.

I just received this comal today 11/19/25. It had rust on the handle & a bit on the surface. And it's pretty heavy. I know cast iron tends to be heavy, but i can't get over the rust. I washed it with warm water hoping to get the rust off, but now the whole pan has a rusty tinge to it, tho i dried it right away on the stove top. The towel i used to dry it is orange with rust. Sorry to say but it's not a good product in my experience. I was excited to use it as a tortilla warmer. 🫤

Why spend over a hundred dollars on a vintage replacement round cast iron griddle? This feels and looks almost identical. The factory season on this item is very, very thin (almost to the point of non-existence) and I would recommend seasoning several times immediately after receiving and before using the griddle for cooking. Anyone having rust after washing is not seasoning their cast iron properly. I used grapeseed oil and shop towels to tamper. I seasoned it four times in a hot oven and it is shiny and protected. Cast iron should be washed, towel dried and then immediately put on the stove burner on low until warm and or in the oven until dry. Once cooled or slightly warm, it should be oiled with cooking oil, grapeseed oil, or lard/shortening until the next use. If not -- it may rust until seasoned from cooking and exposing oiled cast iron to high temperatures. Cast iron, especially newer that has not built up a thick layer of seasoning, should not be left wet or soaking and should be washed immediately after use. This will lead to rust as shown in the pictures. If it rusts, it must be placed in a plastic garbage bag and coated with oven cleaner and left outside for 24 hours, then cleaned with steel wool, and rinsed. Then, after the rust is removed, the seasoning process must be started immediately several times to coat and protect the bare iron. I am very, very happy with this item. If you are looking for a cast iron comal/griddle to cook or heat tortillas, make pancakes or french toast (use oil to prevent sticking), fry a few eggs, dry roast chilis or peppers. or make grilled cheese/quesadillas then this might be exactly what you are looking for.

Size was smaller than I thought and the wrapping wasn't great, because had already a tiny chip at the top, but other than that it looks great. Haven't used it yet.

Lo uso solo para calentar tortillas y funciona excelente, se calienta muy rápido y las deja muy bien. Buena calidad, y buena resistencia. Muy buen antiadherente.
