guaranteed to make everyone a swinger !!!!
from 93 came many a future rock classic GET A GRIP from the SMITH BOYS,GOLD AGAINST THE SOUL by the MANICS IN UTERO by NIRVANA,EARTH VS,AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE the list goes on but one that gets forgotten about is this total not just melodic rock classic but a total rock classic & this should be considered along side the said albums but sadly never will be.It's the moment were the band 1st found a direction of their own were the melody of DEF LEPPARD the technical ability of EXTREME & harmonies of QUEEN came together,In one big down tuned half step !The album crashes into life with SAVIORS NEVER CRY after the staccato style of a quietish intro BANG !!!!! in it comes with a riff thats heavier than a ton of bricks from MR LESPERANCE & massive vocals & a great wah solo by peto chucked in plus mike & darren lock into a tight groove to keep the thing rolling on.next up is the total classic that is NO JUSTICE a prime example of a band moving on from the love songs of the debut it still keeps the massive layed vocals & big dark riffs going but also some volining in places from pete which is a nice little touch. now I'll make a few to mentions of pete lesperance but this album is deafo a stand out moment for his playing & also this contains some great BRIAN MAY style playing in the solo & again I have to highlight how solid the rhythm work is from mike & darren this also contains the 1st traces of the QUEEN INFLUENCE with the vocal harmonies. Then we have the best track DEF LEPPARD never wrote with STRANGER THAN LOVE were harry does his best JOE ELLIOT at times this is a great mid paced rock song that rides along nicely & yes another great solo from MR LESPERANCE (sorry).now we roll on to CHANGE COMES AROUND after a atmospheric intro in comes some palm muted guitar shuffle thingy with some light touches of keyboards then in comes the riff followed by some of HARRY'S darkest vocals sorter spoken sounding like Dr evil then in kicks a great bridge section followed by another big chorus & just before the solo a great little rhythm break & then after another chorus things slow right down & fades out with massive QUEEN harmonies a true classic again that was never much outta there live set.slowing down next with JEALOUSY were things go a bit bluesy which is nice to hear from a melodic hard rock band It also has a subtle hint of organ in the chorus which complements things really well.Still in the laid back vibe is the vocal debut from drummer DARREN SMITH who is the main reason for the great vocal harmonies on this album but its lead vocals are 2nd to none now PHIL COLLINS would be proud (now should I be saying that?)This is another HS classic with a great little riff from PETE in the chorus that a stay with you for a while. Also worth a mention is MANDY this has become a fave among the fans even though its a instrumental its a great show case for PETE to show what he can really do shred without over doing it its beautifully phrased & well thought out. Then theres EMPTY PROMISES which fits in perfectly before we get the totally unique with IF THERE WAS A TIME after a little bit of piano & acoustics from the start then in comes darren's vocal range & my goodness that guy has got it !!!!!! this track just sorter bobs along at a nice slow pace with PETES nuno influence coming through so well another beautiful piece of melodic greatness. Then we have JUST LIKE A PLANNED with just vocals only......now QUEEN would be proud of this its so well throughout basically melodic rock goes barber shop quartet lol but is just breathtaking.& lastly is HAD ENOUGH with a blazing intro from PETE then in comes another intro riff this just goes along at a mid pace but once the chorus appears they put the foot down & this rounds off the album with more great rhythm work,A well thought out solo & great vocal skills.this album has everything you could possible want & more it delivers in everything you need or require from a great rock record or just plain & simple a great record& KEVIN DOYLE (KISS,VAN MORRISON,ALLANAH MYLES) is back to help out on production with harry & pete at the helm again.how this band never became has big has DEF LEPPARD or BON JOVI ( don't you mean THE JON BON JOVI BAND lol ) is quite beyond me ! there truly is no justice in the world ( sorry bad pun )now if you never buy another HS album make sure you own this one but I guarantee that once you buy this you will come back for more & more. this deserves A+++++++++

Not too shabby!
I have read positive reviews about Harem Scarem for years and although melodic hard rock is without a doubt my fave genre it was the band name that put me off giving them a go! Well, I heard a sample of one of their tracks and decided to give in and give them a go... And boy, am I glad! If you like melody driven, rifftastic hard rock you're simply going to love Harem Scarem. If you are into any of the following they'll be your bag, baby: BON-JOVI, DEF LEPPARD, EUROPE, HARDLINE, MR. BIG, TNT & WHITESNAKE etc... Don't let the name put you off!
