Manfrotto293 Telephoto Lens Support

Great quality for a good price
I have just got the lens support delivered and as soon as you open it you can tell it is quality just by the weight alone....Well packaged as usual by Manfrotto..I bought this item to help support my Raynox 2025 pro lens as it does shake a bit when trying to hold the camera with the lens attached..The lens fits the support nice and snug and a velcro strap goes around the lens to secure it in place, also the adjustable rail is useful so you can pick which part of the lens rests on the support. The support attaches to the camera very easily using the universal screw via a quick release plate and you have about 5 different screw holes to attach to your tripod/monopod so you can even out the weight of the camera/lens so its not front heavy...Overall a great item and perfect for those wildlife shots...

Designed for lenses longer than 300mm.
Well made and sturdy. I bought this to support my 300mm Canon lens to help prevent excessive movement due to its unsupported overhang when fully extended. I haven't used it yet other than to try it on my tripod together with camera and lens. It only just supports the 300mm lens and this is the absolute minimum length of lens that could be used with it. Even then, I will need to manually focus without attaching strap as end support rests on the focusing ring.

Resolves balance with ''bracket-less''longer lenses
Have weighty tele-lens and only support is via camera body which isn't good, 293 allows fixing mid balance point

Very useful for supporting long lenses
Decent quality and does what it says - supports camera and lens that doesn’t have a dedicated tripod mount. I gave it four stars as it doesn’t work with the camera in portrait mode unless you have a Manfrotto style L bracket.

Good value and does the job
Considering the silly prices of these types of apparatus, this was very good value !! I needed it to stabilise an old heavy telephoto lens I bought, which is of the 'push/pull' zoom type. The Manfrotto 293 solidly made, without being too heavy, and it does the job. Very pleased with the results :-)

Tripod saver!
This is a well made but a little expensive product. It solves the old problem that with long lenses without a tripod mount, you have to tighten tripod head so much to prevent the lens drooping. Once you have found the balance point for each of you lenses, altering the camera position on the tripod is as easy as if it was a lightweight point and shoot. I have even used it with a gorillapod to balance the camera better with a standard lens. Slightly heavy, but if you regularly use long lenses you will be used to carrying a bit of tackle.

Works well
Works well but hard to reconcile with a Manfrotto monopod head for big lenses.
