Vornado VFAN Sr. Pedestal Vintage Air Circulator Fan, Vintage White

I really like how it works with my AC & ceiling fan to cool down my family room. It fits right in front of the AC vent and really moves the air. I can feel the breeze when I am almost opposite of it, so I know that it is really circulating the air. It is quiet and the retro design is very nice and a big reason why I bought it. It is sturdy and well made. Vornado seems to stand by their products and I had an older one that they replaced under warranty with no problem. I bought the white one and the color will go with decor in more than one room, although it is pretty heavy to move up and down stairs. More colors would be nice, but I am very happy with the white one. I may have to purchase another one for my bedroom! I have had this for a month or two because I didn't want to wait around and was afraid it might become out of stock. Now that we are in a heatwave I am so happy that I have it.

This is my third review. This is a powerful fan, well designed and acceptable sound. My fan started to make a terrible noise after almost 2 years and I received a new fan in less than 48 hours as a replacement. If it works fine, this is a great fan even in compare to dyson fans.

Quick update: June 2019. I've reduced my star rating from 5 to 4 because the fan is starting to make light clinking sounds in operation. This fan is only used during summer months and it should still sound as smooth as new. It seems way too soon to start to make noise.Original review:This Vornado stand fan impressed me as soon as I removed it from the box. The head and base are made of heavy metal that has a retro look and looks like it will last forever. I was less impressed when I began to assemble the fan.I followed the directions by laying the head of the fan face down on my bed. I then began to assemble the pole to attach to the head and base of the fan. The diagram shows the pole fully extended and shows where to attach the collet."Slide lower pole onto upper pole. Using provided hex wrench, use counterclockwise rotations to remove set screw from collet. Slide collet onto lower pole until it stops. Check to make sure holes in collet and pole align. Replace set screw and tighten clockwise with hex wrench. To avoid damage to product, be sure set screw is fully aligned and engaged with hole in lower pole. ".Despite the clear directions, the holes did not align and my frustration began to build. I read several other reviews that described the same issue. Disappointed, I decided to pack it up and return it. I started to slide the pole pieces into the short position and noticed that the holes were aligned. I opened it back up and they were no longer aligned. Closed it again and they were aligned. So while the pole was closed in the short position, I set the screw and opened the pole back up. Perfect! I then added the head and base as directed.Once my new fan was assembled, I turned it on to hear the beautiful lull of the fan. I'm using this fan in a room that is about 500 square feet. This fan circulates the air VERY well and I'm quite pleased!I've used this fan for a couple of months and it's operated smoothly every time. I wish the plastic blades were made of metal, as I love the sound of an old-fashioned metal fan. It's quite soothing and reminds me of the nights I spent with my grandmother when I was a small child. This fan looks retro but doesn't sound it. It's very quiet and not intrusive. Most people probably prefer that.I would like to suggest to Vornado that they edit their directions and diagram to clearly state that the pole pieces must be in a shortened position for proper hole alignment. I still love this fan and would easily recommend it to my own family.

White noise, moving air.

I really love the retro feel and the sturdy construction of this space fan. I live in a small apartment that gets in a lot of sunlight and my space definitely needs a good fan, which I found with Vornado. The sturdy metal adds to the charm of the Vornado designs. This is the third Tornado product I've purchased and now very loyal to the brand. MADE TO LAST
