Great small radio for your kitchen or office!
This is an old school analog AM-FM radio that works really well! It is very small and will fit in anywhere, although the small size means it has a small speaker. It is unlikely to win any awards for sound quality, but it sounds crisp and clear with good highs. Sensitivity on AM and FM are better than most similar radios I have used. Although this is not a "DX'ers radio", it does pick up out-of-market stations quite well. Selectivity is good, but don't expect to pick up weak AM or FM stations right next to a strong local station. On AM, you will be able to listen to a reasonably strong distant station about 20 kHz away from a strong local station, providing that the local station isn't broadcasting in HD and splattering over adjacent channels. One limitation; this radio only tunes 530-1600 kHz; it does not cover the "expanded band" up to 1700. If you have a local station in that part of the band, this radio won't be able to receive it. This audio output power is rated at 100 mW, which is enough for personal listening, but don't expect room-filling volume. One benefit of this is that the radio has phenomenal battery life. Sony rates it at about 100 hours from a set of alkaline AA batteries. It also runs well on a set of Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable batteries, which you can safely leave in the radio for long periods of time. They hold their charge well and don't leak, which is great if you want to use this for an emergency radio.I like the horizontal form factor of this set, with the tuning control on top. For me, this makes it easier to tune. The tuning is smooth as it should be, and it does not jump from station to station like radios that use a DSP chip. It is a little surprising that it lacks a flip-out stand, but it will rest on the antenna clip on the back if you want to lay it down. It if meets your requirements, I would recommend getting one of these before they are gone. Nice little radios are getting harder to find.

Revised Review
I first reviewed this and gave it three stars, but after further use I've upped it to five. The dial is not calibrated well which led to my original review as the AM station that I was trying to pull in (740) would barely come in. It seems like a "ghost" signal as when tuned to about 1040 on the AM dial the station comes in pretty well- better than my other portable in the same locations. Sound is decent and the build quality seems good- aside from the inaccurate dial.

Nice little radio
I like the size & planned to use with ear bud at work, but building has too much interference. I gave to my brother and he's delighted to have AM radio for listening to sports! Volume quality seems real good. Haven't tried sleep mode yet. FM dial is super touchy when tuning in stations. Overall, nice radio.

For us AM radio guys
Working in the yard listening to talk shows or the game. It sounds better and cleaner than the older model that had a tilt stand built-in and I miss that little tilt stand in this one, but not that big a deal. It sounds like a transistor radio small with a narrow bandwidth of sound, but hey what did you expect.
