Not a sure footed in the snow as I had expected
Compared to my studded Fat Bike tire these are scary. Probably work well in slick ice conditions BUT with 2" of snow I was all over the place when riding my bike. I went two blocks and parked the bike for the winter. Went back to my studded Fat Bike which is nearly as sure footed on snow and ice as on pavement.

Great tires for WI Winters (New brand name, Suomi)
I just took these tires off of my bike after an interesting winter here in SE Wisconsin. I commute 1.5 miles to and from work five times a week. The only reason I took them off was because winter was over, not because they are not great tires.I bought them in November and up until January I was afraid I wouldn't get a chance to actually use these tires in real winter conditions (Snow, Ice, Slush, etc.) Fortunately (in the sense that I didn't waste my money) January and February turned out to be great weather for testing these tires out.I rode these tires on all types of winter weather and roads. They did an excellent job.On plain ice is where these tires shine the best, you don't even really notice that you are on ice at all. (I'm more likely to slip and fall walking through the parking lot than riding on my bike!)These tires also work well in slush, and powdery snow. I had no problems with these conditions. The two things that seemed to give these tires the most trouble was the heavier, denser, wet snow (especially if it had gotten packed down by car tires) and frozen slush. In the heavier wet snow I occasionally slipped as I was riding, but once the bike reached a certain angle (Less than Perpendicular to the ground) the studs would then start gripping and I would continue on my way. I never lost my balance or fell even when the tires slipped slightly. On frozen slush, again the tires did occasionally slip (But this is due more to the unevenness of the ice than anything else)Even though the description said that it is typical to lose some studs through normal use, I did not end up losing any that I noticed.Best of all I never fell even one time this winter when riding my bike (And as mentioned above I rode it 10 times a week, 1.5 miles each time)One thing that did confuse me when I got these tires was the brand is now Suomi rather than Nokian. Going to their respective websites, I discovered that Nokian seems to only make tires for motor vehicles now. Suomi makes tires for bicycles. Otherwise these were the exact same tires, they just had a new brand name. (Also if you google Nokian bike tires you are taken to the website for Suomi)

Defective
One of mine cracked during the first ride! Cracks appeared around the studs. I don't think they will stay in the tire. I only rode 15 miles on them.

Great Ice/Snow Bike Tire
I have just bought my second of these particular Nokian studded bike tires for winter bicycling. My first pair were Nokian tires with 296 studs and they lasted through nearly 5 winters here in Eastern Iowa.I bought them because I was too old to risk any more falls. Broken bones for people in their 60's can be very expensive in dollars and lifestyle. I did discover that 296 studs do add to the rolling resistance of the tires and decided to try a more lightly studded tire for the replacements. My first year with this 160 stud tire (Nokian Mount and Ground) was last winter, using just one studded tire on the front. I didn't fall, but my rear tire did lose uphill traction from time to time, and I bought the second Nokian tire just weeks ago. After such a long time of not falling, and getting older, I will be using studded tires every winter without fail. And from good experience, all my future studded bike tires will the Nokian brand.

Amazing tires
These tires really work well! I have put around 100 miles on them through dry pavement, wet, snow, ice, up & down icy hilly alleys with no falls! As soon as I would hit a patch of ice going straight, then turn a bit they 'bite' in and really hold on to the road, AMAZING tires! The studes still look as if they were put on last week. I have been careful to not lock em up & skid, to see how they wear under just normal travel.

They performed wonderfully. They weigh about 1
Works well in snow and on icy sidewalks/pavement or trails. I got these when I was riding during my maintenance route which included on and off road stretches. They performed wonderfully. They weigh about 1,038 grams per tire and have substantial lugs. They were a bit of work to mount on my 26" rims but I got them on by spraying a little soapy water on the rim and tire bead and by using extra tire levers during the process...well worth the effort in my opinion.

Excellent
They grab the ice and are worth the money. Put them on a cruiser used for short commutes. Do you need to slip and fall on the ice during your commute? No? Then try these.

Great tires, long wait to get them delivered
Tires are made in Finland. They work incredibly well on packed snow and ice, not made for deep snow. No tire, except maybe those humongous fat cruiser type, work well in deep snow. If you order now, you'll get them in time to use next winter....took 6 weeks to get from FLA to BOI.
