I didn't want to spend too much because it's not something I'll use often, so I searched Amazon for the cheapest one. The reviews looked pretty good, so I took a chance and I'm very happy I did! On 1st use, was able to cut up a turkey with ease. My wife got a 9lbs bird from Costco's and I didn't feel like spending 4hrs cooking in the oven, so I wanted to see if I could pressure cook it. It didn't fit well and I used this cleaver and it worked beautifully. Was able to chop through an uncooked turkey and barely fit our pressure cooker. After an hour of cooking it was done. The next time I'll use this cleaver will probably be to de-husk a coconut and I'm sure it will work like a charm! Don't hesitate to but this! It's a really nice cleaver, very sharp, the 7" one has a nice weight to it and it feels nice in my hands. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

I received this cleaver and was very impressed with the quality and durability. It is every bit as good as advertised. It is medium-large and adequately heavy with good heft in the hand. Like my daughter said upon picking it up, "Wow. You could do some real damage with this!" Yes, you can buy a few larger cleavers but I don't really think you will want to get anything larger, unless maybe you are in the business of commercial meat preparation. It is made of High Carbon stainless steel and the tang goes all the way through the handle. I know a few people have complained that they had trouble with the handle on theirs, but the handle is strong so far, with no sign of problems, and I don't expect any problem. The full tang is surrounded with a fitted molding of high impact ABS PVC plastic, for the grip. It is strong and durable, and I expect that it will be plenty long lasting, unless you drop it on hard concrete (not the best idea, anyway) or otherwise impact the ABS handle. This cleaver was very sharp, right out of the box. I routinely test my blades by using them to shave the hair on my arms. Some blades are never sharp enough. Some will shave, but require a lot of pressure. This cleaver just shaved my hair cleanly and smoothly. Very nice. I tested it on some very soft, ripe (but unbruised) avocados. It bisected them neatly, right through the seed and everything. Whack. Whack! Now, you would expect that a cleaver could cut through the soft flesh of the avocado. And you would expect that it would even, easily, cut through the avocado seed. But the impressive part was the cleanness of the cut. Right through both the hard seed and the soft flesh without bruising the flesh, squashing it, or pushing it aside by the seed as the blade passed through the seed. Very good. I could not feel good unless I give you a word of warning: PLEASE be CAREFUL with this cleaver. If you don't know how to use it, then learn how. My daughter, carelessly, let the cleaver drop an inch or two, onto the cutting board. Unfortunately, her finger was on the cutting board. The cleaver went right through her fingernail and cut some into her flesh, though it didn't penetrate farther because it was only dropped an inch or so. But, this cleaver WILL take off your finger if you are not careful. I mean it. No joke. You can use it to slice, just like a knife blade, with the proper precautions for your hands, but if you are using it as a cleaver, to whack stuff, then KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM THE CUTTING BOARD when chopping. And, if worst comes to worst and you DO cut off a finger (I am serious) then take your finger, put it in a bag with some ice, and drive immediately to the nearest emergency room. Because the cut will be so clean, and without extra tissue damage, there is a reasonable chance that they can be successful in re-attaching it. If you are looking for a cleaver, I recommend this one. I’ve been using the Utopia Kitchen 7-inch Cleaver Knife for a few months now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite tools in the kitchen. The stainless steel blade is sharp right out of the box and holds its edge really well even after repeated use. This cleaver is quite nice to look at. The construction seems very solid and it feels balance I my hand. The edge on it is quite a bit sharper than I expected. My only issue is the thickness of the blade. My grandpa used the same cleaver for perhaps his entire life. It's blade was twice the thickness of this one and there is a mushroomed piece on the back of it where he'd hit it with a hammer to cut through bone. I don't think this cleaver will endure decade of abuse like that and still be useful. That is what I would give 5 stars for and the blade thickness on this cleaver warrants ably four. That said, it is a very nice tool and quite easy to use. Just don't take a hammer to it.

Perfect chef knife with a heavy weight to it. Very sharp out the gate! Great for splitting chicken or ribs. Handle has a good grip/feel. Like the added hanging hole in the top so I can hang this up.

I am pleasantly surprised. Its nice and I love it. I think I got it for under twenty bucks and I feel good. I think this is gonna be here for a looonggg time. Gotta go......

I bought this knife in January of 2019, today is September 2025. This knife has butchered hundreds of chickens at this point and processed more meat than I care to think about. There are zero chips in the blade and has held its sharpness incredibly well. I’ve only worked on the blade a few times to sharpen it and never have done a professional sharpening. I honestly can’t believe how well it’s held up and I would definitely give five stars. For the price you won’t find a better meat cleaver. There is zero rust and other than the logo having faded it still looks new and cuts really well right where you need it to. The weight is on the heavy side but in a good way for the use case and it stores just fine in a draw as I do not have a sheath. I will say it never goes into the dishwasher.
