Is it fish/pond safe? I want to use a large "Koi cave"...

In my opinion yes. It is a Milk Crate so I would think it is made from food safe plastic, but I don't know for sure. It is a one piece construction so it will not come apart leaving pieces lost in the pond. I think the fish would enjoy it and it will make a safe retreat for the smaller fish to hide in.

Would a pizza box fit inside?

Not flat in the bottom, it's basically the size of 2 milk crates side by side. The length is longer, but the width is the same

Is it durable enough to stand on in a pinch?

Hi, i bought 2 of these to use as the water tank for my water feature. I cover them with heavy stone and occaisionally stand on them when i make adjustments to the stone. I have never jumped on them but have stood for a minute or so with no problem , I am about 215lbs. and have had them close to 2 years
