Great long lasting walking shoes.
I have just replaced my last pair of Merrell intercepts which were bought in 2017 and used as a daily shoe as well as a hiking shoe. I can highly recommend these shoes but you do need to buy a size larger than normal as they come up small (I'm size 11 U.K. and 12 fits perfectly). I only had to replace my old ones as the sole was finally wearing thin. The uppers were still in excellent condition and are very strong and well put together. While these aren't advertised as a waterproof shoe I can honestly say my feet have never been wet or cold in these and I have found them great for year round use including some very muddy walks and hot summer hikes. One of the most important things for a walking shoe is comfort and these won't dissapoint- after a couple of walks they seem to mould to your feet perfectly and for me they have been a joy to wear.

Great Quality Walking Shoes
This is my third pair of Merrels, same shoes, same size, same colour. They are always just right. After the initial try on of my regular size(10), I settled for 10.5. They are great shoes, real quality materials and manufacturing, breathable and offer some waterproof protection. The shoes are comfortable, lightweight and great for offroad dog walks and / or the pub! As usual, the best prices are to be found on Amazon. I normally keep the items in my wish list, and Alexa notifies me when there is a price drop.

Small and narrow
Not suitable for someone who needs wide toe shoes. I bough a size bigger (UK) how some people here suggest, but it was still tighter then my usual size. Will be good for someone with narrow feet. Gave it 4 stars as they seem like good quality shoes, although I havent had a chance to try them.

Fantastic quality
I've bought these to go treking in the Amazon, after receiving, I'm not sure I want to ruin them. As others have said, they come up small, I'm normally an 8, these are a very snug fit, to the point I've seriously considered sending back for a larger size. but the difference was in mm, not a size or even a half size. I decided to risk it, and I've walked a few miles in them and there is a little stretch, they're now perfect. I really like the design, its much better in hand than in pictures and I'm really impressed with the materials and construction. They feel rugged and solid. And unlike most sneakers and walking shoes, they have excellent arch support. They are quite narrow and especially narrow around the toe, I have a narrow foot so its not too much of an issue for me, but those with wider feet might not get on with them. They are very comfortable on the whole, but could do with more support at the ankles, you can easily twist on rough terrain. All in all a very good product I would recommend.

Very disappointing quality – second pair to fail in exactly the same way
I have been buying Merrell shoes because of their reputation for durability and quality, but unfortunately my experience with this model has completely changed my opinion. This is now my second pair to develop exactly the same problem. The sole has split and separated along the side, despite the shoes only being used for normal casual everyday wear. I do not use them for trekking, hiking or any demanding outdoor activity. The photos show the condition of the shoes very clearly. Apart from the split, they are still extremely clean and almost look new, which demonstrates how little wear they have actually had. Yet the material around the sole has already failed. Having experienced the same failure on two separate pairs makes it very difficult for me to believe this is simply bad luck or normal wear and tear. It appears to be a weakness in the material, construction or manufacturing of this model. Merrell used to be a brand I associated with sturdy, long-lasting footwear, particularly considering the price. Shoes marketed as trekking/outdoor footwear should certainly survive considerably more than light casual use. I am extremely disappointed that the quality does not seem to match the reputation Merrell built over many years. I would expect Merrell to acknowledge this type of premature failure and offer a replacement or appropriate compensation. For a premium outdoor footwear brand, this level of durability is simply not acceptable.

Not made to last
I bought these to wear casually (to work, around town) and have worn the daily for the last 10 months. I wanted something fairly stiff as previously I'd been wearing Skechers and my feet were tiring easily even after a couple of hours on my feet and "proper" walking shoes appeared to fit the bill. I chose these due to brand reputation and because I thought they'd look reasonably smart with jeans. Initially, I could feel the pressure on my instep but they quickly broke in and were really comfortable once they did. Things went smoothly for around 9 months, then they started to feel less supportive, more like like slippers and one of them developed an annoying squeak which I had trouble tracking down because externally they weren't showing much wear other than expected tread wear. Eventually I tracked the squeak down to one of the heels, both of which appear to have lost structural integrity like the heels are soft and hollow. I'm fairly heavy at over 19st, but I've never had any shoes give up on me without also showing obvious signs of hard wear and particularly not walking shoes. I contacted Amazon, explained the circumstances and they offered me a refund or replacement, which I accepted, so full marks for Amazon customer service (as always). I chose to accept a replacement despite the failure because there aren't many walking shoes I've found that I think are smart, that fit me (I'm a UK14) and that keep looking smart (all that I've had to do to keep these clean is to wipe the toes with a damp cloth in the winter) and I'm hoping that my last experience was a one off. Bottom line, 4/5 for the shoes, 5/5 for Amazon customer service. == Update 16/08/17 == After 3 weeks the replacement pair started to fail in the same way and are gradually collapsing. I think these are great shoes, but not suited to heavier individuals. Perhaps my gait has changed, but nonetheless I'm disappointed with these. == Update 8/10/17 == Giving up on these. Not only do they feel squishy now, but the rubber on one of the toe pieces has split and the glue that holds the sole to the upper is separating. This is the second pair, they've barely lasted 5 months and it's not as if they've been used for hiking.

V comfortable but size up!
Comfortable from the off! Nice level of support and look well constructed - I cannot comment on long well they will last, but after the first few long walks I’m v v happy. One key point to note - I needed a size 10 I’m usually a 9 - so make sure you size up.

Great value and nice looking shoe
I wear these shoes for work and play and so far I have few complaints. They're grippy in the wet and good for challenging hikes but not very waterproof. They look great but the fit leans towards slim with a high arch which is perfect for me. I'm on my third pair but have never paid full price so shop around and you'll definately find good deals.

Good quality
Sizing is literal. Does not run too big or small. Nice bottom cushioning inside and rugged exterior. Looks well made.
