I'd not played the original Advance Wars games for the old Gameboy Advance back in the day but I had played 'Dual Strike' on the Nintendo DS. I have been blown away by how good these Advance Wars remakes are. The characters and style is all a bit cutesy but the gameplay is second to none. In classic Nintendo style the difficulty curve is spot on - it feels challenging but you can always see a way forward or see what you could have done differently to succeed. Winning (or losing) a battle feels like the result of the tactics you apply and is therefore a win is really satisfying. I played on 'Classic' mode, which is the original difficulty and felt this was spot on. There is a 'Casual' mode as well, which is good for kids. You can unlock a further 'Challenge' mode by completing each game. This game is a great deal for two top-notch strategy games. Each game can take around 30-40 hours to finish (which sounds daunting but you'll be hooked so won't notice). On top of that there are loads of additional challenge maps and multiplayer maps (online and local). One of the best games on the Nintendo Switch in my view.
