A simple, effective stepper motor control with microstepping
Though listed as a CNC microstep controller, I bought this to use on my personal electronics project. I cannot attest to its effective on CNC machines but for my application it works perfectly. I recommend looking up the online manual for this controller as the printing on the case does not list all settings - including the holding torque which can be modified via one of the dip switches. The input controls are pulse, enable and direction. There are specific timing requirements for this controller, especially where changing direction is concerned. Again, consult the manual if you are using this controller for your own project - the timing is important! One point to note. The Enable input can usually be left open circuit (the inputs are isolating optocouplers). I expected that you enable the controller by powering the Enable input (turning on the optocoupler). However this is incorrect. Activating the Enable has the effect of disabling the controller and causes the 'error' led to turn on solid. In my application I am driving a 3 Amp stepper motor, at 24V, from my raspberry pi. I use a common positive to the 3 inputs and buffer the pi (which outputs 3.3V) with a pull-low transistor (and base resistor) on each individual input. Works like a charm.Hope this helps! Overall a very nice, easy to use, controller.

Nice drives, good price
I bought two; works well so far running NEMA23, 4 wire motors (which are like Superior Electric M0-63's) using the 2000 pulses per revolution setting, which is similar to Centent and Gecko microsteppers that I'm used to.I like how they mount vertically with just two screws, with the heat sink on the side so heat can radiate away in air, rather than into the mounting surface. Removable terminal blocks is nice too, so that when its all wired up, one can swap out the drive without unscrewing all the wires. Red + green LEDs indicate normal operation/fault conditions. Used with a WEHO S-400-36, 36 volt DC 10 amp / 360watt switching power supply. The steps/direction/enable each have 2 terminals for the optically isolated inputs, allowing either common-positive or common-ground, a nice option to have. DIP switch selectable microstepping for 16 different settings ranging from half step (400) to 25,600.

Much better than I expected
I really wish I would have found this stepper driver earlier. I'd previously purchased a bunch of the TB6600 drivers. Yes they are cheap and they do work. However, the TB6600 drivers only do 1/32 microstepping. These stepper drivers go way beyond 1/32. I only need 1/64 for this project so that's what I set on the driver. It was a straight replacement for the TB6600. I didn't have to change my microcontroller settings or rewire anything except the quick connect on the edge of the stepper driver. Took less than 2 minutes to replace the TB6600. I expected some smoother motion with 1/64 microstep but I was really caught off guard but how much quieter and smoother these drivers are. It really makes me wanna throw all my TB6600 drivers out of a window.

Easy installation
Replacing drivers was simple, plugs easily removed made it easier to wire. The plugs make it easy to troubleshoot problems or interchange drivers.

Excellent value for your Money
I needed these in a pinch and these were pretty much a directreplacement for what I had befre.. a lot of the Chinese drivers are wired backwards to what I currently had but these for me were a plucg and go situation. just configured the dip switches to my likings and was upand running in no time !

Micro step driver evaluation
I bought these drivers to have them as spare parts. I have 3 installed in my CNC router and are working pretty well.

Wouldn't know, it was dead on arrival
My unit was dead on arrival. Swapped it out with another driver I had laying around, and everything worked fine. Tried to swap back to this one, still dead. Red light comes on on power up, and it's unresponsive. The manual for this driver is super vague in its description of what a solid red light means and basically just says that if the wiring is right amd the light is still on, the driver is dead and to return for exchange. So apparently it's a common problem.
