Was able to set up very quickly on their app. Problem was I wanted to integrate with our alarm system which uses alarm.com app. Spent a lot of time struggling with the alarm.com app add devise feature. It kept failing. One thing that initially wasn’t clear is that the locks app generates a code that you need to enter on the lock to pair it with the alarm system. I was trying to use my alarm.com code. It is in the app under settings. In the end I had to add from the alarm panel rather than the alarm.com app but it works well. Love having keyless entry on the bathroom door for post jacuzzi shower!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this lock disarm your alarm system when you unlock the door?**
A: If your alarm system allows it and if is connected (wifi, zwave) to the alarm. Note the lock DoorSense state does not get transmitted thru the zwave interface

**Q: Can this be used outdoor like on a gate?**
A: No, only the external-facing keypad is suitable for outdoor use. The larger part of the lock unit where the batteries are held, and which has the twist lever, is only intended for indoor use and is not weather-resistant.

**Q: How do you open the no-key version lock if the battery has died?**
A: The instructions say for no key, you need to have another way into the house. So I have a no key on the front and also a conventional lock on a side door

**Q: Do you need a hub or module to have remove access to the lock?**
A: In my experience, without the z-wave or wifi module the lock will only support remote access Bluetooth. Bluetooth via the Yale app and/or Apple home kit works as the interface. Hub wise, without a z-wave or wifi module ... is a little more tricky to answer... as generally a hub would typically support z-wave or wifi. However, I believe it's possible to control it indirectly via homekit over Bluetooth with a AppleTV functioning as a hub. For example , my zale lock has the z-wave module that I have paired with Ring alarm as a z-wave hub, but I can still interface remotely when I'm not home via homekit because I'm assuming my appleTV is functioning as a Bluetooth hub via homekit... which is a little confusing but all I know is that it works 😂.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works with Home Assistant Hub

This was the 2nd Yale Assure 2 door lock that I installed in my house. Fairly standard installation. Fortunately for me, I was replacing an existing deadbolt lock so the door and door frame already had the necessary holes drilled. Since I was going to use this lock with my Home Assistant hub, I didn't bother trying to add user codes with the Yale App on my Smartphone. I created the user codes from Home Assistant. The only thing different from my previous installation is that I decided to install the small magnet which works with the 'DoorSense" sensor. I drilled a 5.8" diameter hole about 1/2" into the door frame 2 inches up from the center of the striker plate, and then inserted the supplied small magnet with cover. So when the door is closed, the Yale lock app will show the door status as "closed". Seems to work pretty well.
