Fantastic
These are the best fitting and feeling shoes I own. Great traction and they clean up well. This was not my preferred color, but it does hide trail dirt well and even mud, if left alone to dry, cleans off well. I'll just say this: Altra has some fugly color combos.

Comfortable and durable shoe
I buy this brand shoe because of the wide toe boxI have a tendency towards Morton’s neuroma, and the wide toe box helps a lot. This particular model has a rugged exterior material, which is much more durable when hiking in rocks compared to the Olympus fiveFlat rather than round laces would be an improvement since round laces don’t stay tied

Love the vibram mega grip!
I love these sneakers. I have very hard to fit feet, high arches and wide across the instep. When I first got these I noticed similar things as other reviewers, surprised at how my toes touched in a 10.5. However, I think this is due to the neoprene padding in the heal. I laced up the last hole, which helped to keep my foot far enough back that the toes touching weren’t really an issue. But the laces are too short to really tie a bow with them laced this way. After my first trial walk I decided to try putting my arch insoles in, since one of my arches was getting crampy. I thought they’d be too small with the insoles, but to my delight I was able to add my arch supports under the altra insole, and it fixed the fit problem altogether. It helps to keep my heel in the right position without having to lace the last hole, so now they are just right. My favorite part (asides from all the other great things like the vibrant red color and the cushiony ride) is the super grippy vibram sole. Here in the PNW, this comes in very useful where the sidewalks are sometimes slippery from moss, and even walking from the wet outdoors into a store, these shoes STICK.

Quality has gone WAY down
Well I've been an Altra shoe wear for many many years. I agree they don't last as long as some other shoes. However lightweight, quick drying fast on your feet shoes, to be expected a little bit. However the new Olympus model, whatever this material they're using is absolute junk. I went on one hundred and fifty mile backpacking trip and the insides of my shoes are completely falling apart. Both the logos on the outsides are falling apart. The toe lip is coming off. You can see the tread looks new but the shoe itself is falling apart. 10 days of walking junk. I did not get them wet it was nice weather the whole time. I did not have to do any water crossings with these shoes so it wasn't that they got wet dried wet dried etc that can break down material. They legit fell apart. You can tell the material is cheaper than old models get the shoe is still $150. I will wait and hope that they change the material again I'm very mad because I've purchased three pairs of these shoes, they are very comfy on my feet. However I'm pretty sure the other two are going to fall apart in a week. Horrible. Customer service says normal wear and tear. Really Not even two weeks and this is considered normal wear and tear where the complete inside falls out? Not even horrible

New model sucks
I bought Altra Olympus shoes because I have neuropathy and I need a good show. I wear shoes all day because I walk better with the support they offer. I have to go from a size 8 with others to a 9 with these. Okay, no problem. But now they have redesigned them and made them cheaper. They definitely did not reflect the savings in what they charge me for them though. The tongue of the shoe is now a stiff, thin piece of plastic that dogs into my leg. The once thick, cushy sole of the shoe now feels like any other shoe. No more cushy walking, no more soft and comfortable support. Instead, it's just another overpriced show.If I can find some that are a clearance of the previous version I might buy those while I can. Otherwise, I won't waste my money on this brand.

Original Cut Shoe but Still Narrow on the Middle of the Shoes
My Olympus 5 size 7 felt stiff and rigid so I was worried and wondered if I ordered the wrong shoes. I heard about Altra shoes which have a wide toe and I was very happy with my Torin 5 for about a year. However, the Torin 5 did not give me much support on dirt trails since I could feel the bumps on the trails. I ordered the Lone Peak 6 shoes, only to return them after getting blisters after wearing the shoes only once. I have bunions so I need a wide toe. I decided to Altra Olympus 5 a try. On my 3rd time wearing the shoes, I definitely felt the shoes were more comfortable but they feel tight around the middle of my foot. However, I like the grip and gives me really good support on dirt trails. I’m hoping that the shoes will get more comfortable after I break into them in coming weeks. I will continue to wear them and stay open minded.

Great for walking
I bought a pair of these shoes to walk the Camino from Sarria to Santiago. It rained the whole time I walked. These shoes held up well & they stayed dry. They grip really well and they have a wide toe box so that you have enough room for your toes. I didn’t get any blisters or bruised toes. My only complaint is that the shoe strings are too short. That didn’t stop me from ordering another pair of them. I really love these shoes for walking!
