Fantastic little lantern
Really amazed at these lanterns. Light is diffused so you don't see glare produced by bare led. Light is bright white. It will light up a room enough to see where you are going and keep you from running into anything. I don't think It is bright enough to read by unless you hold lantern really close to book but it does good job as area light. Lantern runs for 10-12 hrs., so it might last 5 days if you only used it 2 hr. a day. Takes better part of day to recharge using sun. No on/off switch, pull light up and it comes on, collapse it and it turns off. I got these primarily as emergency lights when pwr. goes off. Compact size for storage. I was able to charge an android phone while the lantern was recharging in the sun. Phone was kept in the shade and charged to 100% in less than 4 hrs. Pretty neat. Very pleased with purchase.

Works great
They are very bright and I love that. Easy to use and they are a good size as well.

Lights out
These lights are ok. They seem to not last a long time but I have to use batteries to find out when I do that. I have been charging them only. So if you get them to try do both ways. So it is a individual call.

Wow
So I got these about 4.5 years ago for camping, totally forgot I had them until I packed some camping gear for this past weekend. These bad boys STILL had a decent charge after four years in storage. They’re bright, small, and the best camping investment I’ve made.

Pluses and big minus
I bought two. Here are my pluses and a big minus.Pluses:1. Solar works. I drained the battery completely (left in on a few days). Solar recharges rather quickly. Less then day.2. Plug in wall socket recharges. Good feature as I added a converter to my jeep for plug in accessories. (Energizer EN100 Ultra Compact DC to AC 100W Direct Plug-in Power Inverter)3. 3 AA batteries work great. I love this feature as all my emergency gear is devoted to AA only batteries.4. Lightweight and compact. The collapsing feature protects the light and adjusts the brightness. Good light too.5. I took the 'S' hooks that came with it and twist tied them to hanger handle. Now its multipurpose for hanging.Minuses:See pics.1. When plugged in to charge (or solar or AA battery), you can see the red light showing connection. HOWEVER, there is NO GREEN LIGHT showing the lantern is charged. This is a major FAIL, esp for emergency equipment. In fact, a better feature would be a scale showing how much charge is left on the internal battery.2. The biggest FAIL is neither lantern I bought will charge my Android phone, though it clearly says in the description it does. The 1st pic shows the units charging from wall plug; note red light. The 2nd shows my phone charging from traditional wall charger. The 2nd pic shows phone attached to fully charged lantern (charged over night) and phone indicates it is Dis-charging. Both lanterns failed in this feature.3. Tried to contact seller but no option except to give him a review.4. Some of the info on the listing is gobbledygook. How about getting a decent English translator. Anyone make sense of these direct quotes below?"Charging, please turn off the power,so as not to damage the LEDs!""Hook fluctuation two sides detachable can be loaded."Summary. Overall above average emergency lantern that could be superior if phone charging feature worked and a fully charged green light was added.

Everyone should be prepared for power outages
These are simple to use and have multiple methods for charging - plug into a normal outlet, use a USB charger, battery-powered, and solar-powered. I really can't say how effective the solar charging is, but having multiple other ways to power the light is a huge win in my book. The lanterns are lightweight and portable. You can raise or lower the top of the light for more/less light emitted. They also come with a handle and metal S-hook in case you want to hang them. I bought two of them for my college-age son after his dorm's power was knocked out. I didn't even think about that when we were doing his dorm room shopping. I like knowing that these will work with the battery power even if he forgets to keep it charged.

Solid product, got here quick, seems great
So far, so good. Arrived on time, good price, both lanterns work well so far. A great addition to anyone's survival/bug out bag/kit or just for camping or even working around the house/car and need some extra light in your workspace. They charge by cable or by solar.
