Great magnetic paint - works well for a hidden feature wall
Does what it says on the tin! Very thick paint which can be hard to apply - similar to gloss, maybe slightly thicker. Make sure to thoroughly mix before applying each coat. It is a bit on the expensive side for paint, but then again this is a unique paint! It gives a different texture to the wall/surface it is applied to but can be lightly sanded to give a slightly smoother surface. Worked well for my application, I would recommend it.

Effective, good stuff.
Works as described in terms of coverage, you have to give it two coats and there was just about enough. It does add a little thickness and texture to the surface you paint so if it's a section of wall you then paint over again it will appear slightly different (pitted) and raised from the rest of it but it's not surprising. After that, you can use magnetic photo/inkjet paper for example to print out your pictures (or shapes/words/other) and bung them up on a wall, makes it easy to change them and or move them around. Fridge magnets also work, it helps to spread the load out for example rather than a larger item and a small magnetic point/surface magnetic paper works well.

Just the right quantity!
I did my research prior purchasing this product.I originally thought of going for a magnetic plaster to cover a whole wall, but after careful consideration I realised it would be much too expensive and complicated for its added value. So I decided to go for magnetic paint instead, several brands are available but MagPaint had the highest rating. I didn't go for the combination paint magnetic+white board as you will loose its efficiency (it's like going for a washing machine that does also tumble dryer). My application was in a kitchen for displaying family photos, I then realised you only really need a small coverage, just needs to be to the eye level. The wall in question is 1.6m wide which fitted with one of the reviews, so to make sure to get a powerful enough wall to attract standard magnets, I also used 0.4m high.I first covered my area with masking tape just to have clean edges, the recommended number of coating is 3 layers, but instead used only 2 thicker ones leaving to dry for 4 hours in between an using a trowel to smoothen the surface. You add painting over (after 24h), however the smooth black finish actually gives a very good contrast to pictures.Result of this is no need to use neodymium magnets, I was worrying to go for these very small ones that children could swallow... Don't buy very cheap ones though. Standard staples ones did the job for me.Last advice, just make sure to stir very well to have all the ferro materials homogeneously dispersed otherwise I'd suspect you would get patches where your magnets work and some others where they don't...

Magnetic wall in minutes, a magnetic blackboard with a little more work
Excellent product. Makes a wall magnetic very quickly and effectively. Some tips and observations from experience:- Needs 3-4 coats to be properly magnetic.- VERY thick paint like painting on cottage cheese, needs to be on thick so doesn't stretch.- 0.5l covered ~1.5sq m of wall with only 2coats so had to gework second can.- Leaves a textured surface and shows brush strokes. - - Matt grey finish is nice and it's easy to do a single coat of regular blackboard paint to make a blackboard but wouldn't fancy it under regular emulsion without sanding.- NEEDS SERIOUS MIXING ideally with a paint shaker (I took my cans to local b&q at a quiet time and asked them to put on shaker, once upside down once right way up and was fine)- weighs a LOT hence mixing need the 0.5l can feels like it weighs about as much as 2.5l of emulsion! Lots of metal filings (I guess) in suspension hence needs serious shaking.- We got the lovely Tidlo wooden letters and numbers and they stick well.- also got the Sigel magnets which are super strong and work well to hold up paper or photos but needs to be that strength to use as notice board.

unsuitable
i have uploaded photo's of the tin and paint for you to see. i cannot use this paint. it is terrible. i opened the package today. as you can see, the tin is dented. on opening the tin, the paint inside is largely congealed and unuseable. i could send the paint back to you, or take it to the local recycling centre. i am not bothered which. what i do want is a full refund , including p+p or a replacement, which is what i prefer.thank you, margaret ford.

grainy and flakey
i've gotten magnetic paint before. This was a tiny amount and poor quality. it doesn't go on smooth - even accounting for the iron particles. The magnetic chalkboard paint i've gotten is much better. this was gloppy and required several coats for the same effect. what's worse is that no matter how many days it dried for, as soon as i tried to paint over it, as it said you could, it completely peeled. total disaster and waste of money and time

Pretty Attractive.
An 'it's okay' star rating is, perhaps, slightly unfair, as it does what it says it will and the result is fine - if rather rough. And that's the slight downside. I put on three layers and was happy that the magnetism of the surface was efficient - you need to do a lot of stirring to ensure all the iron filings are dispersed throughout the liquid before attempting to use it - but, of course, the very nature of applying iron filings to a smooth, flat surface will inevitably result in a course, rough surface when finished - and I was loathe to sand it too much between layers, as it's the filings that fall away! Afterwards, I had to prime it with white and then paint two or three layers of the coloured paint to cover the dark, grey colour of the magnetic paint, and the result is pretty textured, but it looks good with all the magnetic letters and numbers on it! It works, and I'm happy with it.When applying, stir REALLY well and be prepared for your little foam roller to get very heavy, as it fills up with paint containing metal. It dries pretty quickly, so don't hang around - finish each layer before having a pause.

Does the job but needed more coats
I found I needed 5 or 6 coats to get normal fridge magnets to stick. The finish needed sanding to level off before paining, but in all a great product that does the job
User
OK product, terrible shipping
The magnetic strength of the paint is decent, but dark color requires you to put multiple coats of white primer up on top, reducing the strength. We bought this twice and both times it came in a flimsy box with one layer of bubble wrap. The box had hole on the outside. The first time one of the paint cans was broken open and we have yet to receive a replacement from MagPaint.

Dispiaciuta. Mancanza di indicazioni all'uso

Inadatto a calamite souvenir
Assolutamente non adatto a calamite tipo quelle che si portano a casa dopo un viaggio. Dopo le 4 mani date come da istruzioni non mantiene nemmeno lontanamente attaccate le calamite. Adatto solo a quei magneti tipo fotografie leggere. Avviato reso del prodotto
