I’d love how simple and easy this was to understand how to make a coffee shop successful from conception of the idea to best practices once in the door. As an executive, I’d love to see commonalities in the importance of hiring, culture, and tenacity to tracking results daily and weekly. This book is not only great to learn about the coffee industry but reinforcement on how other business should operate.

100% the most accurate and useful tool for anyone looking to open a third wave coffee shop. Not many books out there that are credible and even fewer that are modernized. Easy to read and challenging in the best ways. Worth the money.

I loved to see the ups and downs of the business....what makes you love running a business but also the downsides. What I also wish the book expanded on was how the staff was trained and how they learned to make all different types of coffee and how they secured vendors etc.

Excellent book with many insights into running your own shop, running an existing shop better, or maybe not opening a shop at all. Chapters are outlined in a way for easy reference and lots of stories to show examples of how and why he has made the decisions he has made. Excellent resource!

Bought for my mother who is opening a cafe, I read it too. Great coverage - everything from hiring to equipment to location to margin calcs. Well worth the price.In particular, I like style of the author. Each section is short, gets to the point and isn't padded out with meandering or pointless stories. It makes for a good reference book and is also easy to read and digest.To give an example, my mother read the section on hiring (a few pages) before going to interview someone and said the questions he mentioned were good for screening.

I like how I was able to relate to the author I get the sense that he is down to earth.One thing I disliked is that I get the feel like he is promoting his brand and products, I looked up his website and they do online retail.All in all though I thought it was worth my money

If you're thinking of opening a coffee shop or even if you're not and just into specialty coffee, this book has a lot of great advice and is a wonderful read. There are some things you know and some you've never even considered. Next time I visit any coffee shop, I'll be thinking about what I read and look for ways that particular shop could improve.
