As an avid recreational basketball player, I demand a lot from my basketball shoes. The Lebron X is one of the best I have ever worn. The Max Zoom cushioning feels like you are running on clouds. Once you slip these on and take a few hops, you will be sold. The setup is unlike anything Nike has made before or since. Nike usually uses Zoom Air or Lunarlon, which is different from Max Zoom Air in the Lebron X. The responsiveness is unreal.With the flywire technology, your foot is securely held into the footbed of the shoe. On multiple occasions, I have landed on a player's foot and stood right back up without any injuries. This shoe is miraculous in that regard. I feel safer in this shoe than any I have ever played in. I've even played in Ektio Breakaway shoes, which are specifically made for ankle protection, utilizing complex straps. The Lebron X is still better.The downsides to this shoe are minimal. The shoelaces are thick and fat which is nice, but they become undone frequently, which is annoying. Also, the cushioning is very thick, giving you a feeling that you are disconnected from the court. This is fine if you are not a guard. However, I rely on quick lateral movements which feels unstable on a shoe as tall as this. The tradeoff is worth it for me, since I treasure the health of my ankles over a millisecond of reaction time.
