Our Kind Of Soul

This was laid down partially in a shed, but these guys know how to make a good record and this album is fab. The material's all good, even their original tunes which might've been hits if they'd been written in the 1980s, when Black radio was breaking them. Booklet notes are by Daryl Hall, who generously serves up their approaches, track-by-track. It's not particularly Philly, but fine nonetheless. For those who hold Philly, Detroit, Chicago, and other northern (USA) urban soul as high art, this won't disappoint. By 2005, Hall & Oates weren't gonna coin it with another CD, but for us, it's a gift.

I was blown away by this album. I bought it purely because I was looking for the track 'I'll Be Around' by the Detroit Spinners and a copy of the song showed up as being on this album. I have to say that I now much prefer the version here. Soul classics done in a modern manner and they are all A) excellent and B) Superbly produced. The version of 'Standing in The Shadows of Love' makes the hairs on my arm stand up. Pure craftmsmenship with all the musicians involved.

From start to finish an excellent cd when Hall and Oates work together they turn out someFantastic music weather there own or someone else’s.

Yeah it's OK I suppose. Bit samey and way too many tracks. A focus on quality instead of quantity would have benefitted this album greatly.

Bought album this for myself great stuff from Hall & Oats some old classics

How pleasant to hear voices without electronic tunings and computers not making the noise.We have lost the art of melodic music, so much today is formula lead ,over produced and repetitive lyrics.Hall and Oates have given a good retrospective version of soul classics.
