These do work, but you have to invest in quality magnetic polish. The cheap stuff isn’t gonna cut it. Some of the magnets work better than others. I used the no. 7 wavy magnet on my nails (pictured) it shows up really well. I used the magnet after each coat for 30 seconds. Yes you have to be fairly close. I highly recommend these. The other pic show some quick one coat magnetic polishes with a few of the other magnets.the heart is the only one that is iffy, it should be smaller so it will show on the nail.

Only 5 of the magnets worked for me. Even holding the patterned ones over the nail for a about a minute or two added nothing. I was really excited for the ease od design, but not even the flower beads had any magnetic field in it.

When I got this set I tried each one to see how well they worked. The first small black one doesn't seem to move the polish very well. The middle four (in the main pic) work well. However, the pink one (the one that should do lines and a flower pattern) doesn't work at all. It's not magnetized whatsoever. I'll keep the set because most of them work, but I don't suggest buying this set.

Lots of different designs and appear to be good quality. Haven't used them yet, but will before Christmas.

I am a total novice but I have tried a few of the magnets in the set so far. Here are a couple photos for example. The first photo shows how I used the the large rectangular magnet at an angle to get the line across my nail (silver polish). Then I used Magnet #1 to get the horizontal stripes across my ring finger nail (grey/black polish). For the larger rectangular magnet, I had to leave it hovering over my nail for about 60 seconds for it to pick-up the magnetized polish. For Magnet #1, I saw the lines pop-up after just 10-15 seconds or so but left it hovering for a total of 30+ seconds to be sure I got as clear a line as possible. Learning as I go, but this set is super fun and definitely worth the money. I say give it a shot :)

I would say I am pretty good at doing magnetic nails and wanted to try some tools with patterns so I purchased this. Disappointed that they didn’t do the job. I can see some pattern but definitely not as vivid as it’s advertised to be.
