Versatile electrolyte drink for your pooch
We all exercise in our family and take supplements, including electrolyte drinks after a long run or an intense workout, and now the dog has the same! The dog runs with us so I thought it would be a good idea to try something like this. However, it's not just for sporty dogs. Dehydration during hot summer months is often an issue, as well as doggos need extra hydration when recovering from ops or poor health. All these situations are exactly what this drink is supposed to be for, so as it's multi-use, that encouraged me even more to test it.The powder has no strong smell (I expected a chicken smell!) and it takes a while for it to dissolve fully - you need to shake the bottle a lot. I actually shook it, left it for a while, and shook it some more, and that seemed to work. You can tailor the consistency to your dog's needs, I didn't want it too thick so it was about a spoonful to 250ml.My dog wasn't super keen to begin with, and refused to drink it the first time. but on the second day, he decided to try it. I've been adding the drink to his normal water bowl and he's been drinking it as normal now, so I think he's used to it. I wouldn't make this an everyday drink (it's too expensive for starters) but for sports events, hot weather, or poor health, I think this is definitely worth a try.

Lumpy and cough inducing
I was so keen to provide an alternative to premixed hydration, however, this is not a suitable alternative. It doesn’t mix well and makes my dogs cough, choke and splutter. (as though it’s too salty). I tried using warm water, blender, shaker, less powder but nothing gets the granules to fully dissolve. Not to mention that it is 28% fat, so definitely not ideal for dogs on a low fat regimen. Sadly, won’t buy it again & would return it if I could.

Not practical or easy to dissolve....
The A-OK9 Fresh-K9 Recovery Drink for Dogs presents a novel approach to ensuring our canine companions stay hydrated, especially those who are less inclined to drink sufficient amounts of water on their own. Its formulation, designed to supercharge hydration, is particularly geared towards active, sports, and working dogs who require extra hydration and energy replenishment. The inclusion of a chicken flavor is a thoughtful touch, making the supplement appealing even to the fussiest of pups, encouraging them to consume more liquid and, by extension, boosting their performance and endurance. This focus on palatability and the supplement’s backing by a study from the Urban Search and Rescue Veterinary Group adds a layer of credibility and reassurance for pet owners seeking to optimize their dogs' hydration and overall well-being.However, despite its promising benefits, the A-OK9 Fresh-K9 supplement falls short in its ease of use, particularly when it comes to dissolving the powder into water. This difficulty can lead to inconsistency in the mixture, potentially affecting the supplement's palatability and, consequently, its overall effectiveness. For a product that aims to encourage increased liquid consumption among dogs, especially those that are highly active or have specific hydration needs, this flaw is not negligible. It's a hiccup in what could otherwise be a seamless addition to a dog's daily routine, possibly deterring pet owners from regular use if they find the preparation process cumbersome or if their dogs do not consistently accept the mixed solution. While the concept and targeted benefits of Fresh-K9 are commendable, improvements in the product's solubility could significantly enhance its appeal and utility, making it a more reliable tool in the arsenal of pet hydration solutions.Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! :)

Far too expensive - plus no such thing as a superfood!
My dog is 27kg and on average we cover around 120 miles a week. Hydration is vital, especially in milder and warm weather. The RDA of this product is 2 tablespoons. A tablespoon is 15g. There is no taking into account a dogs size, which seems like an oversight to me.So, at 30 grams a day, a single packet of Fresh-K9 would last a week (well, just under). At close to £38 a pack, thats unaffordable unless for the odd occasion. If you have a working dog or a highly active sports dog, then this is simply out of the reach financially (for most people). My dog isnt a big drinker (hates water i carry, and would rather drink from a hoof imprint in the ground) and i cant say he was all that enthusiastic about this. Ive only used it once (im going to hang on until the summer to use the rest as i cant justify the cost of buying another packet) and he wouldnt finish it.In terms of preparation i found it really hard to dissolve. I ended up using a whisk as no amount of bottle shaking worked. Didnt smell of anything, which i wasnt expecting. Perhaps if it was more chickeny my dog may have been more interested. My other issue with this is the marketing - on the front is ' ALL-NATURAL INGREDIENT, SUPERFOOD SUPPORT'. Firstly, im not really sure what they mean - the ingredients are very basic; fat, salt and various sugars. Electrolytes and energy drinks arent complicated. There is nothing ground breaking or unusual. Superfoods is also a marketing term i hate. There is no such thing - no scientific nor legal classification. This also contains soy protein. Im not a fan of dogs consuming soy - its a reasonably common allergen and there are far better sources of energy out there. Soy just tends to be cheaper. All in all, not a product i would use again. I just cant see how they can justify the price tag.
