Is there an easy way to control the depth you cut? Or are the cubes just length and width? Could one cut halfway down easily?

I don’t think it would be easy to cut the foam pieces halfway down. Each piece is about 1/2” x 1/2” x 2” in size, I gave more exact values in an earlier answer.

can any type of glue be used without disolving the foam?

I used a tube of silicone caulking, worked fine

The foam I got had sections of size about 1/2” x 1/2” x 2”. They were actually a bit smaller, 0.47” x 0.47” x 1.93”. When my order came it was compressed so it looked very thin and I was sure they sent the wrong stuff but I was wrong and it expanded to full size.
