it says there is a visible scale indicator on the kb741 ii dont know where the scale indicator is can anyone tell me where it is

A previous model had the scale indicator next to the on/off switches, but the current model does not have it.

I just received coffeemaker and I was wondering if the hot plate high/low switch is supposed to light up?

Beginning in early 2014 the light lens was blacked out and so it does not light up any longer. The soleplate switch toggles based the quantity of coffee being kept hot; one position for full pot and the other for when half or less is brewed or remains. On auto-off models which end with "AO" the soleplate and light go off after 100 minutes. If your model shows a small square red lens on the switch itself then the light should be working as described. If the lens is blacked out, then no. It depends on the year of manufacture.

Does this have a grinder attached? I've read comments about adjusting the grind. I already have a grinder.

It does not have a grinder. Otherwise a great coffemaker for brewing under 10 cups, works especially good for small quantities of 20 oz or less. Feature of machine is that it brews about 15-20 degrees hotter than most consumer machines.

Does this have a "pause and serve" feature?

Thanks for asking...TM KB741 doesn't have a pause & serve feature per se. It does have a water cut-off on the filter holder basket....however I don't recommend trying this because it can be messy and it really isn't designed for this function. The water cut-off can cause the filter basket to overflow rather quickly if you don't reactivate it soon enough. Just go ahead and let it brew...it's very fast...bout 5 or 6 minutes for a full pot. Hope this was helpful.
