Great monitor, not disappointed with the visuals. Card Reader/USB3 a mystery though.
Bought this to replace our venerable Samsung 214T 1600x1200 monitor. It's a quality product all right and keeps up the tradition for me of 'never seeing a Dell monitor I couldn't work with'.The connections are great and the main modes work well out of the box. AdobeRGB is almost psychedelic in its range and the sRGB works in a far more natural manner. Certainly impressive the range the panel can put out.The screen coating works well for glare and doesn't add any grain. So overall the monitor is a fantastic addition and we hope it will give many years of good service like the old Samsung.However...there is one small issue. I cannot get the USB hub/Card reader to work. Plugging it into a Etron USB3 connector on the back of a Windows 7 PC just brings up "Unknown Device" and no matter how i try to install the drivers it just stays that way. There are no other drivers on the Dell website. The only alternative I guess it to try plugging it into a standard USB2 socket but that kind of defeats the point. It's not a deal breaker but it shouldnt be that hard. I must point out I've had issues installing 'Dell spec' card readers before. I don't know why they feel they have to take an off the shelf Teac card read etc. and fiddle with its firmware just to make it harder to install further down the line.

Macbook pro users need confident/advanced software knowledge to override set up complications
I purchased this monitor after much research and deliberation. I wanted to use monitor with 15" macbook pro for Photoshop work..my main concern was image clarity/detail and I wanted something cheaper than thunderbolt display (happy to forgo speakers etc.)I read lots of reviews that confirmed the Ultrasharp was their preference over a Mac display and mac compatibility wasn't an issue.I set up using mini display port to display port cable provided and image/text quality was very harsh/pixelated; then saw a day of calibrating, plug-ins, drivers and trawling forum post after forum post. The main problem seems to involve the macbook pro recognising the monitor as a tv, apparently this can be over ridden, but I had little success. The whole package is not user friendly, I felt a strong sense of being out of my depth and before the end of the day.. I had packed monitor back up and scheduled its return.*if* you want an apple style display, the anti glare screen and set up complications are sure to disappoint. On an end note, Amazon delivery and returns service was EXCELLENT. Item had arrived and was collected again within two days. Hour window for courier arrival provided (via email and text) problem free and effortless on my part.

Good monitor, excellent value!
I'm a professional photographer, which means I have to choose my kit carefully both on grounds of its quality, but also from a business point of view in terms of affordability. My 19" Apple Cinema Display really was on its last legs and I could no longer trust the colour it was presenting even with regular calibration, so I searched around a bit and stumbled across this. I'd looked at the Apple display, but at over £800 and with a screen that was still too reflective for my environment, I wasn't happy to pay that kind of money.I've been using this monitor for about a week now and it has taken a little setting up and getting used to. The "Standard" colour setting was giving me some slightly crazy colours, and my folders, menus and icons were so over-saturated it was hurting my eyes. Now that I've switched it to RGB, they're all looking good. Calibrated with my Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Match, I'm also getting good, consistent and accurate colours within Lightroom although I no longer output directly to a calibrated printer so can't check "local" accuracy. But looking at older files on the new monitor, I can see I'm within fine tolerances of where my colour needs to be.In summary, for photo editing I'd say this is the biz unless you really want or need to spend money on a more expensive monitor. The only reason for not the full five stars is I find it really awkward seeing the cable sockets underneath for VGA, USB, HDMi etc and because I think it could come with more supporting documentation to give guidance on setting up for different uses etc, but I've figured it all out now so I'm pretty happy.

Brilliant professional monitor, but what's the warranty?
I bought this for photo editing. It arrived very quickly, was easy to set up, and it had no dead pixels or pixels that are fixed on.I have read the negative reviews here, and agree there is some light bleed (in a dark room looking at a black screen), and a slight colour cast in the far bottom corners, but restricted to a tiny area. I find in the real world, doing real tasks, none of this is noticeable at all. This is a fantastic monitor for my photo editing needs, and I couldn't be happier. The 24" is ideal. You may find the brightness at 50 a little too bright for editing; I set mine to 40.There are several useful preset modes, including sRGB and Adobe. Installing and setting up the Dell Display Manager software changes the display mode depending on what task I'm doing. If I open Photoshop, the display changes to Adobe. If I'm in Word it changes to Paper. Each program can be set to a different preset, and programs not listed can be added by dragging their shortcut into the Display Manager Auto Mode window. Two USB ports and a SD card reader are useful additions.I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a professional monitor. (This is not really a gamer's monitor.)I had a problem regarding the warranty details on this product. Amazon did not provide any warranty details for this monitor, and their customer service on this matter has been surprisingly poor. I have since contacted Dell, and I am told that the warranty is for three years. The only documentation I need to claim under the warranty is my Amazon invoice. So simple, I have no idea why Amazon has not been able to provide this information, despite regular emails to me over the last 3 weeks!
