Just perfect
This is easily one of the best books I own, and as someone with a forest’s worth of bound paper lexical units, those words aren’t written lightly. There is a wealth of brilliantly laid out, scientific but accessible information, and the pictoral guides of cetacean surface behaviour is so wonderfully useful for illustrating the congruity between what we see and what is going on under the surface. I couldn’t rate this book highly enough. Not a fluke. A fantastic tail. Blows the competition out of the water. I had a whale.

Wonderfull book but not a field guide
This book is really wonderfull. It might have some small theoretical problems with new species but those are irrelevant for at least 99% of the readers. Every species is very well described with very clear drawings. The only problem is the size of the book. It's clearly not intended to be taken into the field.
