I don’t think I’ve ever written a book review in my life—until now. That’s how powerful Imagine the God of Heaven by John Burke is. From the very first pages of the introduction, I was absolutely captivated. The way John Burke weaves together thousands of near-death experiences with Scripture is breathtaking. Before I even finished the first chapter, I ordered two copies for my friends. This book allows us to glimpse Father God through the eyes of people who have stood in His presence and come back forever changed. The consistency of what they describe—the overwhelming love, the brilliant light, the indescribable peace—JESUS, left me in tears multiple times. It’s like Scripture came alive in high definition. Whether you’re a believer or someone who’s honestly searching, this book will meet you right where you are and point you straight to the heart of a God who is far more beautiful, kind, good, and real than we’ve ever dared to imagine. I finished it with a deeper awe of Jesus, a stronger confidence in eternity, and a renewed hunger to live fully for Him right now. I honestly can’t recommend Imagine the God of Heaven highly enough. I found my eyes tearing up multiple times because this book truly drew me into not just hearing about the heart of God, but experiencing Him through testimonies & vivid stories of Near-Death Experiences. John Burke’s pastoral heart shines through his narrative & he beautifully weaves scripture throughout each chapter. I was surprised by the depth & scope of topics addressed, such as: scientific evidence that points to life after death, philosophical ideas on time, theological topics like the trinity & God’s sovereignty vs. free will, the problem of suffering & evil, and of course what life after death is like. Whether you’re a skeptic challenging the evidence, a person of religious belief, a follower of Jesus, or a person hungry to learn about supernatural life after death, you will find your mind & your heart enthralled with each chapter. I am a missions pastor and appreciate the scope of cultures and belief systems represented in so many of the stories. I’ve read his first book, “Imagine Heaven”, which changed my life & several of my friends & family’s lives. My mom even wanted to give a copy to every person who comes to her funeral! Well I’m excited for her to read this second book, because it does not disappoint & is just as compelling and life-changing. I’ll end with this. God has been revealing to me this last month about our need as believers to live in not just truth, but spirit & truth (John 4:24). John Burke’s book brought revelation to me in spirit & truth, in my mind & my heart. I could tell this book was prayerfully written & edited, and holy-spirit led, all backed up with scriptural truth. I finished the book with a deeper walk with the Lord & an attitude of worship, thanking him for how big He is & great His love is for each of us. It’s worth the time & investment to read. And lastly, I appreciated the audio version & the different people’s voices who made it super engaging to listen to. Thank you!!

After reading this book it makes me realize that God is completely loving toward us who believe in him and Jesus. There really is no condemnation for those who are saved. I was surprised that some of the NDers were not saved but for some reason God got their attention in advance and sent them back to earth. For those believers who are unsure of what heaven is like, you will have a much clearer idea of how amazing heaven really is. I am glad to know that God gives us the desires of our heart (in heaven) and our former pets will be there! The can't talk to us but they will be able to understand what we say to them in heaven.

Spannende Sammlung von Nahtoderlebnissen in denen Menschen dem Gott der Bibel begegnen. Manche von ihnen hatten nie vom Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jacobs oder Jesus gehört und sind ihm doch in einer Nahtoderfahrung begegnet. Die Beschreibungen dieser Begegnungen sind sehr berührend. Sie schenken dem Leser einen Funken dessen, was die Betroffenen erfahren durften. Gott ist auf jeden Fall größer als die Box, in die wir IHN stecken. Trotz der grossen Zahl gesammelter NDE für diese Recherche existieren auch gänzlich andere NDE-Berichte die hier keine Erwähnung finden.

The stories in this book are amazing and inspiring. To understand life with a view and grasp of what heaven is possibly like changes one's perspective and values as to what is really significant for me. I especially liked what I learned about praying and why it's so important in being able to pray unceasingly.

Extremely well written, sourced and edited. John Burke has recounted a vast collection of verifiable experiences of heaven and our loving God.
