From .co.uk JAG (Judge Advocate General): The Fifth Season opens with Commander Harmon ("Harm") Rabb, Jr. (the always low-key David James Elliot) ensconced aboard a U.S. Navy carrier, as part of a flight team running peacekeeping missions over Kosovo. Trying hard to ignore his career as a military attorney and accrue pilot hours, Harm still draws legal cases that require his more seasoned skills as a litigator. The two-part season debut "King of the Greenie Board" and "Rules of Engagement" find Harm defending a young fellow flier who kills three Russian peacekeepers he mistakenly thought were Serbian troops attacking Bosnian civilians. Meanwhile, Harm’s replacement back at JAG headquarters is a tough-looking and ambitious Aussie named Brumby (Trevor Goddard), who has romantic feelings for Harm’s longtime colleague, Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie (Catherine Bell), the latter promoted to full colonel in season five. No sooner does that case wrap up then Harm finds himself dealing, in "True Callings," with another pilot who took deceptive measures to smuggle a pregnant Bosnian aboard the carrier for medical treatment. Befitting the title, Harm has to face the music about his work: he’s too old to ramp up his flying career. Returning to JAG central, he gets handed the usual mix of uncomfortable and mysterious cases. In "Front and Center," Harm and Bud (Patrick Labyorteaux) discover a crucial witness in an attempted rape case is actually not whom he says he is--in fact, he’s disappeared rather than have his identity found out. The unusual "Psychic Warrior" finds Harm, Mac, Bud, Brumby and Admiral Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) on both sides of a case involving the death of an officer who was both a "pharmacological nightmare" (taking a dangerous mix of anti-anxiety and anti-depression medications) and a volunteer in a strange, Navy program investigating the paranormal. "Contemptuous Words" is a different kind of JAG episode in which Harm is accused of writing a newspaper editorial heatedly critical of the U.S. president, a big no-no in the military. While the wrath of the government falls on him, Harm’s JAG friends work at figuring out who has such a grudge against him that they’d see him go to jail for years. "Ghosts of Christmas Past" is another offbeat tale, this one concerning Harm’s late father (also a navy pilot) and a 1969 visit to the latter’s carrier from a Bob Hope USO tour. While actors have been cast as such Vietnam-era celebrities as Phyllis Diller and Diana Ross, the cast of JAG play fictional characters from that earlier time. (It’s a gimmick, but it’s fun.) Finally, "The Witches of Gulfport" is a weird story concerning Mac’s undercover investigation of a Wiccan group made up of Navy personnel. (Who knew there are witches and warlocks in the Navy?) As always, the series’ production values are impressive, with lots of scenes set around the world, plenty of captivating stories, and enough relationship complications to keep things very interesting. --Tom Keogh

ANOTHER STRONG SEASON
A generous 25 episodes this time round - excitement in plenty high in the sky, deep under water and in the courtroom (friction palpable whenever JAG members represent opposing sides).An interesting range of cases - ethical issues explored, possible miscarriages of justice investigated, women crew members claiming harassment, exposure of cover-ups by those adept at casting blame. Even possible mystical matters come under scrutiny. Should Government money be spent researching alleged extra sensory perception? Should navy tolerance of religions extend to witchcraft?Some of the most effective cases relate to re-examination of matters long ago. Was the submarine sunk in 1941 the first casualty of Pearl Harbour, what happened to the urgent warning it sent? Can it be claimed as salvage or is it still navy property? Elsewhere under investigation - the truth about the 1950 slaughter of Korean refugees, a 1972 knife death, a 1989 murder trial.One of the most impressive storylines concerns a flashback to Christmas Eve, 1969, when Rabb's father disappeared on a mission. This episode is dedicated to entertainers who regularly spent their Christmasses with the fighting forces. Regular cast here all play different roles (David James Elliott of course both Rabb and his dad), famous stars are impersonated and - skilfully incorporated - is archive footage of Bob Hope. Movingly done.Certain weaknesses remain, occasionally embarrassingly so. Some may find certain attempts at humour more silly than funny, Rabb's latest girlfriend intensely annoying.As ever, these are minor reservations. Strengths far outweigh the disappointments, many hours here entertainingly spent.

dopo aver visto quasi tutte le puntate di JAG in tv sto cercando di collezionare il tutto in dvd. ho acquistato la stagione 5 in dvd e purtroppo l'audio in italiano non esiste e nemmeno i sottotitoli.quindi occhio prima di comprare questo titolo. in attesa delle versione in italiano ascolterò la stagione 5 in inglese con relativi sottotitoli.a differenza delle confezioni dei dvd in italiano, nella copertina della stagione 5 versione francese non c'è nulla riguardo il tipo di video e audio.

Le DVD est mal enregistré
Grosse déception non pour la série que je connais et apprécie mais pour la qualité d'enregistrement.Sur la totalité des séquences (4 par DVD) 2 coupent la lecture avant la fin. Cela va de 3 minutes à 13 minutes et vous restez sur votre faim pour la fin du scenario. J'avais déjà remarqué ce défaut sur la série 4. Je commence à lire la série 6 et pour le moment le 1er DVD est correct. Dommage....Mais ette série est chère et les producteurs pourraient faire l'effort de livrer un produit de qualité.

CECI CONSTITUE UN CADEAU... POUR MON FILLEUL DONC JE NE PEUX PAS VOUS DONNER MON AVIS SUR LA QUALITE DE L'ACHAT. JE SAIS QUE C'EST UNE SERIE A SUCCES ET A CHACUN SES GOUTS.POUR L'ENVOI : respect des dates d'envoi et de réception, emballage impeccable. Très bonne gestion des commandes;Une seule remarque : "avant", dès l'enregistrement de la commande, nous recevions un avis de confirmation dans notre boîte e-mail, ce qui était très agréable. Maintenant, on reçoit un mail que lorsque l'envoi est fait.... cela change dans nos habitudes bien ancrées et personnellement, je préférais l'ancien système.

Great tv series, but...
Jag is an amazing tv series, and dvd quality is good. Unfortunately, in spite of Amazon's assertions, in the 5th season box I received the Italian language is not available (same problem for 6th season box). :-(
