Q: Can I use it in a shower?

You could, provided the floor arza of the shower is big enough. This unit can pull out twice the with of when its closed so if you have a double shower thats fine and you will make the most of its doubling capacity. If single shower enclosure suggest looking at a different product. Measure the length and width of the shower enclosure to see if fits with the size of the product.

I don't think it could be placed upright against a wall as the extending section would probably give way. However, it does extend to a good length which would allow you to drape a longer item over it. It is very sturdy and has a good secure fix over the edge of the bath.

Q: Can this stand on the floor?

Its designed to fit between the top edges of a bath. If you use standalone there will be nothing to stop it collapsing as needs something to restrict its legs. Suggest choosibg a dryer designed to stand alone, not this one
