Reviewing Zeiss lens
This lens really excellent one. I highly recommend this lens, it produces very sharp pictures. Compare to my previous Fujifilm 60mm macro lens, Zeiss is greater. Only one think I did not like in Zeiss lens which if your subject so close about 30mm from the front of the lens you may focus manually would be better

Compact and smooth.
Haven't be able to put this to full use yet - shielding. But on first acquaintance, focuses sharply.

Superb macro and general purpose lens
I felt the need to add this review as many Amazon reviews here are NOT for the 50mm lens!I have previously used the Fujifilm 60mm macro lens which was useless as a 'macro' lens! The Zeiss Touit is absolutely amazing, sharp and bright it auto-focusses well on my Fujifilm X-T5. If I ever have a failed image it will be my fault rather than the lens.

More expensive than Fuji's 35mm f1.4 and fairly comprehensively thumped by it, too.
Tried this against Fuji's 35mm f1.4, dozens of frames shot, tripod-mounted. Took the memory card home, compared the results, returned in the afternoon and bought the Fuji (and the X-E1 body); Absolutely no doubt whatsoever which was the better lens despite the camera shop pushing the Zeiss very hard. The Zeiss was heavier, slightly imperfect in fit and finish and, more importantly, was MUCH more varied in it's performance across different apertures and noticeably less convincing when it came to edges and corners. Auto focus much slower and noisier - and this is critical: AF isn't an X-series strong point (accuracy, yes, speed, NO.), so nothing that compromises that is a good idea and I'm afraid this does, leaving aside the fact that Zeiss has no kind of track record with autofocus.I DID see why the Zeiss appealed - it did to me! It was heavier in the hand, reinforcing the idea of perceived value. It has a certain matt-black brutal simplicity to it's styling. It was £200 more expensive; Had to be better, no? And, of course, it had the Zeiss name, something spoken of with awed, almost religious fervour. Let's face it, when it comes to bragging rights, the owner of the Zeiss wins. If you care about such things.Yet there are lots of these new Zeiss lenses on the second-hand market, not only for Fuji, either - Canon and Nikon, too.For Zeiss, this is a budget lens (YES, REALLY!), but it must tell you something when it used to sell for somewhere around £700 and now goes for £520. The Fuji has stayed - more or less - at £470, and makes no special claims.Perhaps it should, though, because quietly unassuming it may be, the comparison images that came up on my screen that day did not need to be squinted at.

A really good macro lens
I had to upgrade my camera firmware before this lens would focus, once that was done it worked really well. The lens is very light and is easy to use. It works on auto focus very well and I’m really pleased with it.
