Just saiyin', these are ridiculously good
TL;DR: if you're reading this review and thus looking for a pair of this type of speaker, these should be at the top of your list. In fact just buy them so you can hear for yourself. These speakers at this price should forever obliterate any excuses for why any room in any house can't enjoy true high fidelity stereo reproduction. Seriously, I never want to see a bluetooth mono speaker ever again in my or any of my friends/family's homes, and will probably be buying more for them as gifts. I'm the audio dude everyone reaches out to for recommendations, and I try to do my best to steer people in good directions, often used via craigslist, and have been apprehensive to go new as far as speakers. Also, I've purchased a few digital bluetooth amps from this brand in the past to power passive speakers, and they've offered noticeably more and better features for not more money, so I was curious enough to give these a shot and see if I can eliminate some of my tedious craigslist trolling. Are they competitive with $500 KEFs or MB Quarts or Cantons or any other lauded brand? Well actually, yeah. They're not competitive with my $30K audiophile rig, unsurprisingly, but they offer so much for so little I kinda love them even more. Speakers are always dependent on setup and room, but even just throwing these on a counter and queuing up some lossless files (jazz, dance, rock) had my eyes nearly pop out once they started playing. The high-excursion woofer paired with a horn-loaded soft dome (silk) tweeter leaves very little if anything to be desired in terms of reasonable frequency response and volume - these are not cheapies as far as components (or maybe it's just that good drivers are really cheap now). Once you max out the volume some audible chuffing, and you can hear the digital amp start to strain a bit (though doesn't ever distort), so these are definitely better suited for casual and, at most, "enthusiastic" listening rather than live sound levels, which is the case of all micro speakers anyway. Despite being just that, they have nothing to apologize for and much to be proud of. They've also got lots of connectivity options as well, and setup couldn't be easier since the passive speaker connects to the active one via a plug rather than threaded cables you have to thread.Oh, also, I had a question on a previous Saiyin amp purchase and they were super responsive and helpful, so I expect support to be solid on these guys as well. Do it!UPDATE: I decided to decorate and decoupage my set. Disassembly and reassembly was straightforward and showed the drivers to be of high-quality too. The fun never ends!

Compact reference monitors with remarkable fidelity
When I ordered these, I expected better-than-average sound for a speaker in its price range. After auditioning them, it completely changed my impression of what a small-budget speaker could sound like. They produce an incredibly detailed sound stage with well-defined bass. I wouldn't have believed I could get such fidelity from a small speaker at this price point. They easily outperform my JBL Charge and Bose Bluetooth speakers. They are being marketed on Amazon as computer speakers, but are high-fidelity bookshelf speakers rather than near-field speaker systems designed for computer use. This is alright; they sound great close up but perform their best when you're about 6 feet away.I like to address some of the complaints that others have written. This speaker ships with the wrong instruction manual; it would have been better to have no manual than what came in the box. I spent over an hour trying to find out where the remote could be and was investigating returning them when I looked at the specifications on Amazon. The speaker system does not come with a remote. All controls are available with the four buttons on the top of the right speaker cabinet. Power, input Bluetooth, and Pairing are accomplished by pressing the two left buttons. Volume is controlled by the two buttons on the right. No remote is needed; no worries about losing your remote. I have not heard any hiss or ambient noises from my speakers unless I put my ear directly on the speaker grill. The problem could be caused by electronic interference from other devices. If you hear line noise or hissing emerging from the speakers, try a Ferrite Cores Noise Suppression Filter like on the attached photo. I highly recommend these speakers. They are amazing. They are delightful speakers with a warm tone that you can listen to for hours. The base does not have the slightest hint of boominess, and the height end is well-defined and smooth. I usually avoid ported systems in favor of acoustic suspension, but these have a fabulously accurate base end.

Man these are AMAZING speakers... with a catch.
These sound like my JBL 305P MK IIs with slightly less detail and not as much low-end. But man these speakers still extend far into the low ends and have an AMAZING amount of detail. I reckon all the way down to 40-50hz. I ordered these along with the Creative Pebble V3s and the Pebbles were terrible. The Pebbles had no low-end and only sounded slightly better than my laptop speakers. These Saiyin speakers honestly blow a lot of the $100+ speakers out of the water too (Klipsch, Logitech etc). These speakers are amazing for their value. Is what I would've said if it weren't for a MAJOR ISSUE they have. These things have A LOT of hiss. I don't know if it's just my unit, but if these things weren't plagued by hiss, these speakers would be the best $50 speakers in existence. They easily sound like $250 speakers which is insane to me.I'm going to return this unit and order another unit in hopes that it's just a QC issue, but if my 2nd unit has hiss as well, then I'm just going to return and look for another pair of speakers, which is a shame because I REALLY LOVED the way these speakers sound.Update: 2nd speakers also have the same hissing issue, which makes me so sad. I really LOVE the way these speakers sound Saiyin. Please fix the hissing and these will be the BEST $50 speakers in existence.
