Nice Jig for sharpening mower blades
Came fully assembled (who even does that anymore?) 4 different stems included to fit the Handle threads of most any 4-4.5" angle grinder. I mounted mine on a couple pcs of scrap wood, so I can use this while temporarily attached in a vise. Who wants to tie up bench real estate for a sharpening jig, that only gets used once every 2 or 3 months. Works fine, to keep a consistent angle grind, a little sloppy in the articulated joints, but acceptable. Works freely without any resistance... You can tighten the joint bolts, and lessen the (minor) side to side slop, but then it fights you with a little with resistance during use. I assumed 30 degrees would be the normal angle to set. but my blades were closer to 35. You can't really set it to "just any" degree angle. There are notches within the adjustments. Meaning you can't set it to 32 or 37 degrees (easily). Only just the notched 5 degree increments. just match what you already have on your blades, and keep a wet sponge nearby, to you can keep the blade from getting too HOT. Warm is ok, but getting the blade really hot will take the temper out of the metal, and then the blades wouldn't be as hardened, and lose their edge PDQ. Minimal (less) grinding is way better for you, the blades & your Flap disc too. (I use a 40 Grit) This thing is kind of pricey for what it is, and I wouldn't have bought it if I only had ONE mower, but I have many mowers, and most of them have many blades. A nice jig unit, and I won't miss the dropping off, and remembering to go pay & pick up the blades anymore. I keep my blades sharp, so I can mow faster, with out the re-runs for missed patches, and try not to intentionally run over too many blade edge wrecking objects. Pick up the rocks and sticks, or you will be running the same ones over again next week.

A must have!
Very happy with this. Well made. Easy to set up and works very well. I always hated sharpening the blades with my grinder. Seemed like it took a long time and the results werenโt that great. Now, itโs easy, quick and puts a good edge on the blades. In the pictures you can see before and after. Took about 45 seconds to do one side. Highly recommend this product.

The fastest way to sharpen a mower blade but you have to play with the angle settings
So I've been sharpening my mower blades for years using bench grinders and a nail for balance. I recently heard about these new flapper wheel grinding disc style sharpeners, so I thought maybe I should move into this century, with technology. First I will say it's easy to assembly, functions as it's intended to and with its different anchor shafts, should fit most grinders on the market. I know it fit my new Metabo, that I bought for this task. You don't need a special grinder, just one that hold the flapper / sandpaper grinding discs. I wouldn't use standard grinding discs, as they might shatter and/ or cut too fast. This is about making multiple passes and losing as little metal as possible. In fact it's a lot easier to balance afterwards, versus with the grinder. So why 4 stars? The angle indentation markers it comes with don't seem to make sense. I set them for what the manufacturer of my blades tells me they are and this things angle adjustment seems to be nearly suggestions. I end up setting it and then making a fast pass, to see if it needs to be adjusted. Once set, it fairly straight forward. The arm holds the grinder at that angle and all you do is lift and glide it onto the blade and push straight through and lift at the end- repeat. Like I said, super easy to get balanced. Id say it cut down my sharpening times by half, from using a bench grinder. But here is the second caveat, it doesn't seem to be sharp enough. I recently cut my grass with these newly sharpened high-lift blades and found too many single strands for my liking. Even with my blades nearing the end of last season, previously being sharpened by a bench grinder, they still left my grass flush with maybe one or two stragglers. This years first cut wasn't as good. Maybe I need to practice more and see if it's me, but you can only make so many passes and fear heating the blade and making it brittle. Not good for a yard with a lot of hidden rocks. I'd say if you catch this on sale, already have a grinder and sandpaper flapper disc, then give it a shot. It's a 100% better than those things you attach to your drill and hope it doesn't blow apart with you sitting under a close deck.

Heavy duty construction like the original.
Very well built blade guide. Heavy duty construction. I purchased the Sporgain brand first, and it has it's advantages too, but much lighter weight construction. The Sporgain uses lightweight, thin wall aluminum tubes on the guide arms, where this one uses solid stainless steel bars. The rest of the jig is also much thicker aluminum than the Sporgain. The pivoting ends of the guide bars on the Sporgain are riveted into the lightweight aluminum tubes, and that looks like an early point of failure to me. This one is built on the same design as the All American that sells for $200 on Amazon. I was surprised to see this one is also $3 cheaper than the Sporgain at the time of my purchase. When you hold them side by side like I did, the difference is immediately apparent. I had my wife hold the Sporgain first, then said "now hold this one". Her eyes got big with a surprised look after feeling the weight difference. The one thing I like about the Sporgain, is the bushing they use to center the side grinder to the blade. It is a simple bushing that is held by a clamp and you can adjust it without tools. This one is the exact same design as the All American and requires a wrench, making it less likely to move, but less convenient. If you are only sharpening blades for one mower, it is a set once and done feature making it a mute point. My blade was cut at a wrong angle from doing it on a bench grinder. It was probably a 45 degree angle. I changed it to a about a 32 degree angle in minutes. The only part of this jig that they weren't spot on about is the detents for setting the blade angle. That is why I said I sharpened the blade at "about" 32ยฐ. The detents are meant to correspond to the marked gauge, but land in-between the 5ยฐ increments instead. This doesn't prevent you from setting it at the 5ยฐ increments, it just won't click in. Now mabe the mistake isn't the detents and vould be the markings that are off. I haven't checked to see which one is wrong. Don't let this detail deter you, because it is very well made otherwise. I had to lightly back off the pivoting arm bolts as they were too stiff for my liking. It uses a larger allen wrench to loosen them, or a plier or vise grip. I used an adjustable wrench to center the grinder to the blade. I only took photos of the blade after It was sharpened, but included them in this review. I originally purchased the 60 grit sandpaper blade but opted to go back and get the 40 grit after watching countless videos before deciding on which one to keep. The 40 grit worked great but I will use the 60 for future touch ups because the correct angle is now set and the 60 won't remove the metal as fast as the 40. I saved you the time by doing the research for you if you just take my advice.

Very nice homeownerโs blade sharpener
As the title says, itโs a great blade sharpener for the homeowner. This is a quality/ handy device that works perfectly for my needs. The fixture includes a number of adapters. (And fit my cheapo Harbor Freight angle grinder). Used properly you wonโt be disappointed!

Works great on my zero turn mower blades.
Worhs great. I have sharpened nine blades so far. I am able to sharpen at the recommended 30 dgrees. I was closer to 45 degrees using eyesight alone. Work well with my cordless angle grinder. No electric cord to have to run.

great product. mower blades are as sharp as a razor!
I've always hated my mower because I would have strips of grass that wouldn't cut in the middle of the deck. I had sharpened my blades by hand with an angle grinder and with my bench grinder, and the problem got a little better, but never disappeared. the first time using this, my blades were the sharpest they have ever been and I was able to cut full-width passes with my mower because it cut along the entire 48 inch width. I am thrilled with the purchase. cheaper than always buying new blades. seems very stable and rugged. hooked right up to my cheap harbor freight angle grinder. great product!

Good product for a homeowner
I mow about 4 acres of my own lawn with a 60" zero turn mower. Have always paid to have the blades sharpened and it's getting expensive. Started shopping around for a way to do my own blades and found this jig for sharpening lawnmower blades. Reasonable price so I bought it. Very easy to set up and use. Was very easy to use and did a decent job putting a nice edge on the blades. Great for a homeowner but definitely not for someone sharpening a lot of blades.
