Moon Michigan (Travel Guide)

The book came quickly, but was ripped a little at the bottom of the cover page that I had to put clear packing tape on to keep the cover page from separating from the bind. And it has a sticky, brown, paper packaging piece stuck across the front of the book that is too hard to remove without causing damage to the front cover. Thankfully this is just a user guide for my future MI trip and not a special novel. This is the only reason it has 4 stars. As for the way the book reads so far, I would give the book itself 5 stars. I like the map at the front of the book, the way the state is sectioned off into different zones (Southwest, northeast, West and east U.P. as examples). The author starts the book with quick reviews of each zone, and then goes into sections that are tabbed on the side of the book for quick zone reference and a more local map of each zone. I haven't looked at any other MI books yet, but I have many vacation ideas from this book. Worth it for the price. As long as amazon shipping doesn't screw up the book before it gets to you.

We used this guide because there isn't much out there for Michigan (or Wisconsin) travel guides. It was helpful but sometimes the descriptions didn't provide enough info. For example, we went to the Saugatuck Dunes State Park to see the dunes. Well, it is a one mile walk to the beach through tree covered dunes, really almost a forest, which is part of the life cycle of dunes. We would not have driven all the way out there for that. Also better guidance on "must see" sites versus others is needed. That said, it is the best guide we found and we needed it.

Book was in very good condition except for 3 loose picture pages at the very front of the book. Not considered by me to be a significant problem in a 4 year old paperback. Otherwise would have given 5 star.

Ok travel book

Traveling in Michigan now, using this guide several times a day. Excellent resource, but just a little light in the lodging and food categories.

Used it along with another Michigan book to tour the state.

This is a Christmas present for a friend.

This is a very useful and detailed guide book. Use for trip driving around Michigan and enabled me to plan a really nice trip.

Extremely useful in the planning of our visit, and hopefully many future visits, to the State where our British daughter now resides.
