Great grit — but not made for the Arctic (or confused parents)
This Polly Plastics rock tumbler grit and polish kit is top-notch — it gave our rocks a beautiful, smooth finish and everything in the kit worked exactly as advertised. The ceramic filler really helps with cushioning during the process, and the silicon carbide grit does the job right. But here’s the thing... Don’t use your tumbler in a Michigan garage at -10°F. Ours turned into a rock-shaped popsicle and completely seized up. Lesson learned: rock tumbling is not a winter sport unless you're doing it indoors with hot cocoa and a backup generator. To make things even funnier, when our parents came over, they heard the low rumbling from the garage and asked, “Why is your car running?” We had to explain, “It’s our rock tumbler.” They nodded slowly and still have no idea what that means. I'm pretty sure they think we’re up to something shady. That said, the grit and polish are excellent. Just keep it warm, keep your tumbler happy, and maybe warn visitors ahead of time that you’re not secretly building a spaceship in the garage.

Fantastic product!
Product works great! Four stars because one of the containers was not labeled, but I was able to deduce which grit it was by elimination.

Awesome! Best stuff for agates
The best stuff for tumbling rocks, especially agates! I rarely use the medium. I used half a tablespoon of coarse and grit 3 "fine" along with ceramic pellets and ran for 4 days on a medium speed in a small tumbler. But, this little tumbler I'm using does run faster than most. Then after rinsing them all, I did #4 final polish and ran on slowest speed for 2 days. This process rounded the edges of the agates good, made them really smooth, and had good high shine. It even made some irregular cut agates that still had rough on the sides look better and shiney. I threw them in just to see what they would do, but I plan to take them down a little more. I'm still experimenting with the different grits, and will see what I can do with the medium grit that I haven't used, but first results were awesome.

Great so far
So far I’ve liked using this grit set for my rock tumbling. I am tumbling rocks from various lakes. So far so good. Here was my first set of rocks using the recommended timing, amount of grit, and etc in the rock tumbler. I did not remember to do the soap part at the end so it may have affected the results. I am currently working on the 2nd batch of rocks using this powder and I am currently on cycle 3. I used the ceramic pieces this time as well as left some cycles in longer than the suggested time. We will see how they differ compared to the suggested. (Will update if there is a change and I will remember to do the soap part) Overall, great quality for price. I love that it comes with all of the levels needed AND the ceramic pieces ! Such a great bargain / price for what you get! Perfect good quality grit for beginner or experienced rock tumbler enthusiasts! Great to give as a gift with a rock tumbler as like a starter set! As it has everything you need besides the rock tumbler and starts off by giving you smaller amounts so you can see if you like it. The actual size of the plastic jars are not too large. I felt they could be a little bigger. However, for a whole set like this I think it is okay. Otherwise, just buy the grit separately in the size you need more of when you need it. Like I always keep extra level 1 grit as you tend to need more of it than the other levels. This brand was also recommended by other people who rock tumbler and enter competitions for rocks, so I figured it would be a good bet. I was not disappointed. I will update this review if the 2nd batch turns out better than this 1st batch so you know! Although always base it on the rocks you are using and what they need to achieve maximum smoothness and shine!
