I added it as a bed sensor to home assistant using esphome

I bought these to use as a weight detector for my kids bed. Basically the idea is programming these with a esp8266 like nodeMCU then write code to talk to Home Assistant to report if my toddler gets out of bed in the middle of the night. Once I got the code working this load sensor did a fairly good job. My only complaint is that you have to create something for these cells to sit on in order for the to not just hit the ground and give an accurate measurement. I ended up using a band saw to cut a 1/4 in plywood template to solve this problem but wish that there was another metal piece that lifted it off the ground instead of having to rig something up. But on the other has this is just a kit so I guess you get what you pay for.

If you haven't done any work with load cells, but want to use them in a project, this setup is a good starting point. You'll probably find, though, that the measurements are not really reproducible and the measurements suffer from drift. There's probably more than 100 web posts asking about these problems. It's pretty tricky to engineer a stable measurement system, apparently. If you wanted to track flow of water in and out of a container, or a similar problem, this sensor combo probably won't work. If you wanted to detect the presence or absence of something this system probably would work.
